Line check tpgk 3barrel

1/3 7 handed

This is a complete different place than the one I used to go, so I know no one here. Nobody knows that I'm a nit as well.

Just sat down this is the very 2nd hand. The first hand we opened for 25 and took it down preflop.

Villain is an asian guy in 50's.
Hero is an asian guy in 30s.

Effective stacks 310.

Hero has the rock straddle in utg for 5, V in Btn limps, Bb limps, Hero opens to KQ, V calls.

Pot 56
Flop K84
H cbets 25, V calls

Pot 106
Turn 4
H cbets 65, V calls

Pot 236
River 3
H ships for 195

All 3 streets are standard vs unknown?

nothing worse calls your river bet. id bet like 1/4-1/3 pot and fold to a raise.

id check turn as well to make villain think his 77 is good.

If they knew you were a nit so this line would represent more strength to them i like it. Not knowing I doubt AK or better; ie any hand that beats you, folds.

It's a little ambitious but I'm okay with it. There might be some sizing exploits to make here with the depth being like 285/50 = 5.5 SPR. The turn is a good card for us to barrel on, not as good as an 8 but cuts down on some of his floats so you're looking at worse KX and a lot of PPs and 8X I'm guessing. The real issue is your image as a nit and if V thinks that - he'll give you AK here...and he's calling anyway.

I am reminded of a phrase on here that was along the lines of "Every time you don't value bet, a puppy dies"

I hate to be a puppy killer, so I think value bet is important here, but I think we should go smaller and get all their Kings to fold. I'm going 80 on river, with an easy fold to a raise.

V tank????? call with 4Q
He said he thought I had KK????????????????

low stakes players call too wide which is why we go big with good hands pre.

I like the flop bet, but the whole point of betting 1/2 pot or less is to keep their pairs under a king in.

So on the turn with a board pairing card, I like to bet small again to recap them, 1/2 pot or less should get a 4 to raise and better define their range. Though no guarantees.

On the river I don't like the AI since we're basically trying to target a worse King to call? Seems ambitious. Most likely getting looked up by 2p+. I prefer a much smaller bet to get crying calls from worse kings and any PP under the K, maybe even a non believing 8. same bet them, 65-75?

Sounds like this guy would have just snapped us off with trips, in which case we lose the minimum. I'd mark them as a super passive player, reload and move on.

Hand is fine and I disagree with all other posters. Except I'd bet turn larger actually to get maximum value from Kx and still jam the river.

It looks as if you raised to $25 pre? I think you need to go much higher, especially since you raised your first hand, you have the rock, and you are UTG -- I'd go $35 or even $40.

Seems fine to me. Slowing down a little (not a lot) OTT or OTR could be OK as well. But as played can’t be that bad. If V calls $25 pre with Q4 and $25 OTF with bottom pair then surely he’ll pay you off OTR with less than KQ.

While I can’t criticize this play, I might play it differently. The turn is where everything gets real - when you get called there, now pause

What worse hand did he call with KJ? Are you going to make AK fold? That might be the step you’re missing. If you’re not making worse call or better fold, checks good.

I know they show up with weird things, but if you check the river, I’ve seen β€˜em check back trips. You could save a couple hundred.

If villain does bet, I’m probably also folding if I don’t know the guy. Chances are he’s never bluffing

You have taken an aggressive action every chance possible in both hands and you’re Asian. This is a slam dunk shove for value.
