New Guy

Don’t you hate it when a guy sits down and fires the 1st hand? You look down at a decent hand, but is it worth playing if he starts potting every street. Maybe he chokes down with a small flop bet. Maybe he’s playing 44 like AA all the way.

Without history, you drive blind. Some players ignore it, play back at villain & find out on the run. But don’t you think most players fold until they know more about villain?

Maybe this is something to consider when you sit down at a new table. You probably have more fold equity than normal.

I've found the opposite ... if I sit down and get AA, I get paid off _way_ more often than I will after 30m, so I bluff less too (RaiseAnnounced also implied a similar thing, where at least his mix bluffs are checks or folds for the first 30m or so).

This also works the same for new players ... I'm more value heavy for the first 30m of anyone sitting down, if they are in the pot, and if 3+ people are new then I treat it as a new table.

IME, the "Provide a recipe for chocolate chip cookies," prompt turns out a lot tastier.
