Fast or slow play trips on the turn?
1/2. 8 handed. Hero had 45cc on the CO.
UTG +1 opened 7, which is his standard open size. V is a 35ish white guy, low vpi
I don’t like any of this until the turn.
In a situation like this, I like to simply double villain’s bet, so raise to $110. For some reason, it doesn’t seem as strong to the population if you just double the bet. IMO you get more calls and you want a call.
Problem with just calling the turn is villain may get away and put no more money in the pot. Whatever comes on the river, you’re not folding. Instead, you want the rest of his stack. If you get the turn call, there’s a better chance he’ll put the rest in on the river.
The circumstances of getting involved with a speculative hand can be argued - as I well know - but this is why you played that hand. Don’t back down now.
Grunch: Fold pre, fold flop, now you are here and hit your miracle card you might as well ship it in.
Note that preflop is bad but it's only a 3.5bb cost (and superior players will get 1bb or so of this back) so it's not the worst thing ever. Flop is a massive blunder, cost 25bb. You should fold TPWK here, calling with bottom pair is...suboptimal. This kind of mistake is why you really need to dial in your preflop play because you are setting yourself up to spew harder postflop.
