Check or bet this turn......?
I'd like some thoughts on whether to check or bet the turn specifically. That's it. I don't care about pre-flop play, flop play, the result, etc. This is a very specific spot from an exact scenario, that I want some opinions on..... Deeper 1/3 game. You have ~$1100, V has ~950. You raise to $35 from middle position with A8hh. V calls from CO. Heads up to flop.
Flop: Td 8s 2h
You bet $40. V calls. To the turn.
Turn: 6h.
Now, the question is: should you bet here or check here? Your thoughts, please. (Assume you know nothing of opponent other than they do not seem to be a maniac or crazy player. Never played a hand with them. And your image is, generally speaking, on the tighter side of things.)

Check call.
Main reasons to check in theory:
1. The turn card is better for your opponent
2. You have 2nd pair
3. You get to keep some flush draws in your bet flop turn checking line since you have showdown value
Main reasons to check in practice:
1. The turn barrel is overcalled in live MDA so you have less fold equity than theory.
Verdict:
Check turn
passive approaches are better OOP on boards that dont favor you. id definitely check the turn. id check the flop against most players too, because you want a flop c/c range, and people overstab boards like these if you check because they assume you dont have a pair. which means that more value goes in if you c/c this flop than if you bet it.
