Stealing when I should have been folding
First hand of newly opened table.
Hero opens $12 from the button with KcQh and gets 3 callers.
Flop comes J83 all hearts
Hero foolishly decides to claim the flush, starts betting, gets too much money in before realizing that the she villain has the flush.
Unnecessary Punt - Bad Play
Iβm looking to be aggressive
Is there a place for a move like this?
I feel like I just wander into steal spots without clear objectives - sometimes they work, sometimes they donβt.
Is it bad to try a steal on a monotone board?
Is it just dumb to try and steal multiway?
What makes a good steal situation?

What???
Opening the button w/KQo is standard but probably larger sizing.
Cbetting small on monotone board is fine if it were HU or 3way, 4way might be pushing it.
Even in the event you get called, you still have some equity with Qh. Probably not blasting off. Just probably praying you get to see a free river and realize all your equity.
Multiway pots are better played with stronger ranges.
So try raising bigger preflop to get it headsup next time.
Bluffing in a four-way pot is generally inadvisable in my opinion. There are definitely good spots for it, but you should be pretty selective. In this spot, I think I would want the Ah or at least the Kh to start bluffing. Having the Qh is uncomfortable because it's really easy for you to just be dead here. Your opponents have every AXhh and KXhh combo, and they also have way too much offsuit Ah and Kh hands. Loose lowstakes players will also overplay stuff like JxTh or 9x9h too. This is a good spot to check and take a FreeCard. You will have a lot more information to work with on the turn and river if you hit your hand or if your draw improves.
If you had AhQh, would you have played this hand the same way?
A lot of people think poker is about making sick bluffs. They are the people who lose money. Don't be that person.
