How to adjust to the Mississippi Straddle
Hi team,
I feel like I've been having trouble adjusting the theory I've been learning from online lowstakes - 99% of which is at 50NL 100BB 9Max - to Live poker.
I am not in a legal state but I am in a community with a thriving private scene with stakes from $1/2 to $50/100.
The most common format is $1/2 with Straddle available from every position and match-a-stack.
What ends up happening after ole' Jim and timmy get 3 coronas deep is the max straddle stays on the button for most of the orbit and most of the regs are constantly matching stacks whenever somebody gets their double up so it feels and plays like a $5/10 game.
Is it reasonable to adapt a "short stack" strategy for these games or do I need to be capable of matching stacks up to thousands every session?

Welcome to the forum. Please do a search for threads with Mississippi straddle in the title, as there are several on how to adjust. This is probably the most comprehensive.
As for your last question, that's almost entirely a question of your bankroll (actual and mental) and secondarily a question of whether short-stacking will risk your continuing invitation to the game. If you can afford to play these games deep, they can be ++EV.
