Stupid spot with rivered set - all options on the table?
1/3 NLHE 9 handed
Sunday night and the game is quiet, only one table running, full of uknowns but there's one for-profit TAG that's recently entered the room. We've been running bad and are now card dead/flop dead, stacks are all 300-600, we have 500.
V - Unknown older asian man, seen limping AA pre earlier and playing it to trap, when he opens he uses ridiculous sizes. He's been cbetting flops 100% frequency for either 5$ or full pot. The 5$ cbets are indeed FOS as he's done it once with K3o in a limped pot on a Q-high flop, hit a K OTT and kept betting, range seems more face up OTT and OTR. Covers 500$. UTG+1.
---
V limps UTG+1, TAG opens MP to 25, LJ, HJ, CO call, BTN SB fold, H sees 7♦ 7♣ in BB and calls, V calls. 6-ways 1st to act.
Flop 150 - 6♦ 5♣ 2♠
checks through
Turn 150 - 9♥
checks through
River 150 - 7♥
H checks, V bets 25, folds to H...

I mean you say all options, but I wouldn't be folding river. Not sure how dangerous raising any amount is either, so I might just sigh call. I kind of doubt he has an 8, but it's not obvious what his range is here. Not sure wtf he has that can bet and call a raise $65, maybe your image makes it better (or can go even higher)? Maybe 99/88 is there though?
Also probably bet turn, if I got here.
But just fold preflop. to the 7.5x raise and 3 callers and UTG+1 who has previously wanted to limp/3bet from EP.
Grunch:
PRE - prepared to get flamed, but I might actually 3B from the BB with 77, to iso all the dead money in the pot.
FLOP - Check is standard.
TURN - I mean...we have a pair and picked up a GSSD. No one seems very interested. It can't be terrible to bet 1/3-1/2 pot. Checking doesn't seem terrible, but we're going to be guessing what to do on almost every river.
RIVER - hard to find the worse value hand that will call a river check-raise. Hard to think V is randomly stabbing with air or 1P. We're probably beat, but we're being laid 7:1, so it can't be terrible to call, when we only need to be good 1/8 of the time.
There's probably an argument to be made that we could get here with T8 from the BB, and we might take this line when we're first to act and it's 6 ways getting to the river But I can't imagine V is going to fold any 8x combo to anything less than an all-in jam, and I don't think it's worth the risk of him snapping us off when we only have $25 invested, and can win sometimes if we just flat call the $25.
Please don't punt here, Banana.
Preflop is correct. Folding or 3!ing would be bad.
Maybe bet the turn.
I would raise/fold to the 1/6 pot river bet, but I can see the argument for flat calling.
I’m not sure how often a raise can get called by worse. I think we’re sometimes ahead but a call is in order.
I think you should lead this river yourself for smallish and fold to any substantial raise.
People aren’t going to bluff this spot very often so why check? They might value bet worse, but it won’t be for a big size and you won’t be able to effectively check-raise with four to a straight on board.
Block bet river yourself. Unless you pick off a bluff it's only way you are going to get value from worse sdv for the most part
Call as played. No other option is viable imo
Acting first - check on flop is standard.
However, after it checks through, I’m betting 100 on the turn. I don’t think there’s any overpairs that don’t bet the flop, so now the paint is going to fold. Might run into a nine, but I’m not scared of it, you block straights and there’s no flush. Again, the whole premise for the stab is that the check-thru indicates no overpairs and we may be ahead or represent strength later. With this line and everyone showing weakness, we could take it down now. It looks pretty strong. There’s options on the river if called.
On the other hand, if I thought someone would check-thru the flop holding TT or JJ, yeah, I’d probably do what you did and flip him a quarter.
Hand seems fine if you call the river.
you got to the river post flop for free looking for an 8, call and take the showdown value or fold, Raising is reckless.
