KJs in the SB: Fold, call, raise?
1/2. Reconvened home game. Rake is one dollar. It's the first hand of the evening. Everyone has 200.
V1 has a VPIP/RFI/3B/4B of 50/25/7/4. He loves to gamble.
V2 is a loose-passive calling station and bets his good hands.
Hero has a nitty image to V1 and V2. Hero is twenty years their senior. When hero last played with V2, hero was arguably OMC.
OTTH
V1 opens 10 UTG+3. V2 OTB calls. Hero with KdJd in the SB. Hero?

I would add the BB is loose passive and might call
Easy call. You want to see a flop against 3 others and if BB happens to 3! itβs a super simple fold. You 3! opens it up to a 4! from V and youβre OOP.
This is a 1-2 home game, keep it simple.
Iβm making it 60 and folding to a shove
Calling seems the worst option
If V1 is gambling/calling most of the time, 3betting seems bad. We would be 3 way very often and oop in a bloated pot with a hand that gives reverse implied odds.
If V1 folds more often to our 3bets, we don't mind 3betting and getting it HU vs v2
Then folding seems best out of all 3
With ntn here. It's the first hand, small bet to call, take a flop (since BB is unlikely to squeeze), and H'll have best relative position to Gamble Guy.
Post-flop, start with a check.
Grunch:
How many people are in this game? When you say UTG3 opens, how many people are left to act?
Any reads on the BB's squeezing propensity? No straddles to get through, right?
I try to play raise-or-fold from the SB, but if the BB isn't squeezing much, I'll start to flat call / over-call some, with a somewhat wider range of more speculative hands. Basically, I'm playing Bingo from OOP, just looking to smash-or-fold post.
Here, I think our hand is good enough to 3B, and I wouldn't mind just taking it down pre. If our image is nitty / OMC, that should increase our fold equity, and bolster our credibility if we follow through post.
Assuming we 3B to $50 and get called, the SPR will be pretty shallow, something like 1.5 or even just 1. With a nitty image, I might just jam all flops that aren't ace-high.
Alternatively, you can flat the $10, and see what happens.
If you 3-bet, you'll most likely have to continue the aggression post flop. You could easily get pot committed with just K-high.
I wonder if you're over-thinking this. 100BB poker shouldn't be this complex. You have an ok hand. Just call and try to improve. Bet for value if you do.
Save the fancy plays for when you're at least twice as deep.

Hero raises 50. Everyone folds.
Everyone loved it. "AD with the big three-bet first hand! What did you have?" I said KJs. "You're FOS. 3betting KJs in the SB? No way."
I immediately posted the hand. Yes, I should play more poker and less time posting hands about whether to "just call" the SB with KJs in a home game, but here we are...
I’m late to the party but I would have either folded or played it exactly the way you did down to the sizing.
3bet is good, nh. Do NOT fold pre.
