I wouldn't call river AP, but I would have raised turn and followed up with a river bet.
Never a call, but might be a raise if V's tiny sizing means he's weak AND if he can actually fold weak SDV. As stated above, I'd prefer a turn raise, though.
H calls
V shows busted straight draw.
Complains that he canβt get me to fold. This was our first hand together.
I considered a raise on the turn. I didnβt have any good reason not to, other than thatβs just not the way I play. Next time though itβs getting bigger.
great result but do you know why you called? is this something repeatable?
The title says it all. Something something pot odds. I was getting 6 to one the river. All the draws bricked out. I think he bets bigger if he had trips. A 9 or pocket pair might check.
Is it repeatable? Idk this is not the first time I bluff caught with Ace high. Iβm not always right. It probably works best if a player has history with V. Or when players are great at hand reading.
I posted to see what others thought about this play to see if I should continue. But it seems like something that should only be done rarely.
Most people thought a raise on the turn was the best play.
Grunch:
PRE - If your $25 open from the BTN is getting three callers, raise bigger.
FLOP - good check back.
TURN - V1 looks FOS, IMO. I'd be sorely tempted to raise over that bet.
RIVER - Ehhh....conceivably we have enough SDV to call, but I don't love it.
I'd have no problem barreling river if we raised turn. As played, I don't love raising river after we check back flop and flat call his tiny turn bet. I think a raise now gets looked up a lot.
Raise turn all day
