Would have definitely thought you had heard of 54-40, as they got big radio play in 80s/90s (they're actually still around) and they're from just above the border here.
I've always wondered what USA#1 bands I missed out on at the time (ones that all Americans were very familiar with) due to unlikely to be played above the border.

I guess they didn't fit the CFOX format? Though they seem like a lot of the bands that were big on that station in the late 80s/early 90s. I listened to a few songs on the intertubes and didn't recognize any of them. Not really my cuppa, tbh. They have some elements that I like, but they just sound kind of... lazy?
Pretty sure they woulda been big on CFOX back then. You remember Larry & Willy hosts from back in the day? Willy now the morning host on the classic rock station, and I think Larry has some lunchtime gig on the 80s station.
I got my first ever speeding ticket to this song:
ETA: Lol, just realized my goto radio station for live gigs is on your side of the border, do you ever check out the KEXP (Seattle) You Tube stuff?

The only DJ I remember was the guy who used to be in Loverboy. I think he was the drummer, or the bassist?
When I lived there, most of the Seattle stations didn't reach up to Bellingham, which was why I listened to CFOX.
My Spotify unwrapped summary arrived yesterday. Guessing one of you can beat my 66,000 minutes?
(gg, Spotify is a ridiculous new fangled music platform where you pay a small subscription and don’t actually have to buy the music. It’ll never catch on so you should stick with your iPod and gramophone)
we all know when gg talks ipod it's code for this

Not I, I only had ~36k minutes. I listened to a few hours of sirius most days as well.

It was 10% to $15 before and there are quite a few people making a living playing poker, even at 2/3. So it’s possible - no tax on gambling winnings here.
But it is truly despicable
And I thought the Westish coast USA#1 was a snatch game.
Funny story. When Foxwoods had a monopoly on 5 states in 2004 the rake was 10% capped at $4, no bbjp. Although that 10% was only for the smallest games, for some reason games like 5/10 nl didn't take the fourth dollar until the pot was $120.
Miami,
not a middle distance guy but have you checked out what the young Aussie sprinter is doing? Gout Gout. quite remarkable
I know that will only drive the Encore to further heights.
And I thought the 7+1 rake at my local haunt was bad enough.
25 a hand is “please stop playing poker” using different words.
Welcome back to LNL chat thread, McLovin. Long time no see out of OOT.
So it's been one heck of a weekend in the Garick house. Friday as we're preparing to go to an arts-themed medieval event where Mrs Garick is teaching a class for which she'd done a ton of research on embroidered 17th century Persian lady's pants (entitled, appropriately enough "Fancy Pants: A Look at Persian Naqsh-e"), she informs me that there's also a Toys for Tots tournament scheduled. So I stop by the store on the way home from work and get a build-your-own dinosaur kit and a remote-control stunt shark, because they are the two coolest toys on offer.
When I get home, I check my work email, because my editor at UVA Press told me their editorial board meeting was that day, so hopefully my book would get approved for publication. It did! My book should be coming out in Fall 2025.
At the medieval event, I am fortunate enough to win the tournament, the prize for which is a bicycle donated to Toys for Tots in my name. Very cool. Maybe even cooler than a remote-control stunt shark.
Mrs. Garick's Fancy Pants class goes great. It is the highest attended class at the event and gets rave reviews. Then in the closing ceremonies, she is informed that she has been selected for our organization's highest award for lifetime excellence in the arts.
Just an amazing weekend.
Excellent news all around, Garick. Congratulations on the publishment and the win, and to Mrs. G. on the class and award!
Yea, he has world record potential. He flies both speed and floats above the ground like the all timers.

his straight in the 200 is unbelievable. you never quite know whether the teenage sprinters will go on with it once their bodies fill out, but to already be at 10.05 and 20.04 at 16 is incredible
that was the Australian Schools champs. My friends' son got silver in the 1500m. Fairly decent genes - his dad was a pro rugby player for a decade + and his mum went to the Olympics in 4x400.
congrats Garick.
In the words of that great Vietnam Special Forces Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith. "I love it when a plan comes together"
Congrats on the run good this weekend. Keep it up.
it certainly makes playing lower stakes seem like a particularly bad idea.
