Line Check Two Hands

Line Check Two Hands

Please roast me as these hands seems really bad in several ways. Sizing for one and turn on the first and flop on the second.

Villain - Seems to play pretty tight pre. Haven't seen much out of the guy in terms of showdown hands. He just strikes me as a rec for some reason. Have seen him, in multiple heads up single raised pots when he wasn't the raiser, donk turn after a flop check then fold to further aggression.

Rest of the table has been folding quite a bit pre. Two other guys to my left have been pretty straightforward.

2/5
H - HJ (covers)
V - BU (230) (I ****ed up and thought he was deeper during the hand)

Folds to me and H raise 65s to 15. V calls.

Flop Q65r. Pot 30.

H bets 20. V call.

Turn Ac. Adds a backdoor club draw. Pot 70.

H bets 45. V call. (I'm thinking I should just c/r here? Once the Ace falls I'm a bit lost on how to get three streets of value anymore).

River Tc, completing backdoor clubs. Pot 160.

H bets 100. V jams all-in for 150. (My bet sizing seems really bad here, but thought could get him to think I was bluffing and call with an ace)

**
In the meantime I raise Ac9o 15 in CO, V calls in SB heads up. Board J73cc. Check, check. Turn 2d? He donks turn for 20 and I raise to 80 and he folds.

2/5
H - LJ (600)
V1 - same as before - CO (500)
V2 - SB (500)
V3 - BB (500)

Folds to me and H raise A9dc to 20. V1, V2, V3 call.

Flop A24hh. Pot 80.

Checks around.

Turn 8h. Pot 80.

Checks to H who bets 50. V calls and rest fold.

River 4d. Pot 180.

H bets 100 and V raises to 250.

Hand 1 looks good if you just jam river instead.

Hand 2 is a simple fold pre. As played I like flop & turn again, and on river I'm inclined to check/call rather than bet it myself. From your observations, V sounds like he's aggressive/airbally in some odd ways, so I see letting him bet with his air/missed draws/bizarre merge hands like 8x/pocket pairs as a much better proposition than going for value ourselves.

Getting raised does suck, and it's near purely strong barring someone being either a super strong player or they're just super aggro or willing to make desperation bluffs. Even if I want to call light sometimes here, this is probably not the hand of choice.

Hand 1: As you noted, the big mistake was thinking villain was deeper. River is only the really questionable point. Villains are in general too sticky and trying to get them to fold with small bets is a mistake without a strong read. Check and evaluate on the river. If villain has AQ they beat you and other AX and QX can't be too happy with the board.
As played call off the final $50 just because the pot is so big. There should be an outside chance villain as AK/AJ/JJ type hand and you win anyways.

Hand 2: Ok. Don't try that too often, it's a risky bluff. Occasionally though it's OK. You should just fold more then anything unless you know villain will habitually bluff just because you didn't bet flop.

Hand 3: River bet was a mistake. You have a made hand but not a strong one and both hero's and villain's range will be AX heavy. Villain has more heart draws then hero. Check and evaluate river. You will need to call fairly often because you do have an ace and villain may be betting just because you didn't but hero should keep the pot size under control. Better to check/call $100 then bet $100 and get raised.
As played fold. There shouldn't be much in play but better hands, the heart draw hit on the turn and villain is being aggressive.
