The Bottom Line, Grand Total, of Strictly Poker Results, from 2024:[/b]

+$27,629

It's been a fun year. Had some great trips, and I think I played a good number of hours, considering I work full time AND have a part-time side hustle.

Conclusion: Play lots more PLO.

I've got more poker trips and poker planned for 2025, now I have a goal to beat!

How was your 2024?

I played 700 hours split between Vegas and Detroit.

I got crushed Jan-Jun, every overpair that got all in pre. lost to a worst overpair or maybe AK. People hit sets against me constantly, and 20% draw vs. my hand was a flip at worst.

Was even by the end of Oct. which felt amazing, moved up to only 2-5 in Nov. and ran "normally bad" so took most of Dec. off 😉.

I got wrecked from July until mid-August, down 8.5k (at 1/3), then hit a bad beat jackpot and won 9k so right back out of the hole. Up 3k since then just 3-steps-forward-2-steps-back basically. Actually running quite badly but losing the minimum in a lot of spots. Noticing I need to find more folds especially exploitable folds. The worst part has been that a lot of my losing has happened at tables of bad/drunk/losing players. Sometimes they barely know what a big-blind is and they're taking my money.

Played my last session of the year yesterday. I am up $4320 over 378.5 hours, mostly playing $1/$2 but with some $1/$3, some smaller stakes home games, and two sessions of $2/$5 mixed in. I actually separated out my results by stake, but everything outside of $1/$2 was so marginal (and largely breakeven) that it isn't really worth reporting.

The rocky section in the beginning was inclusive of a Vegas trip where most of the $1/$3 happened. I sunran at Mohegan Sun $1/$2 for six months, April - October, then had a $2500 downswing in the month of November which I have started to recover from, thankfully.

89 sessions total, 60 of which were at Mohegan Sun. Also played five sessions at MGM Springfield, two at Encore Boston Harbor, two at Resorts World Catskills, two at Revo in Manchester, one at Twin Rivers, ten across the Vegas and Palm Springs area, and three across Atlantic City. Four total home games sessions with buy-ins ranging from $20 to $70.

I also won $2,900 playing in the world's softest online pool, stake.us, for a period of no more than six months. Connecticut is cracking down on sweepstakes casino sites so I can no longer play there, but it was fun while it lasted. Those results aren't included here and I didn't track my hourly, but it was fairly ridiculous. Everything was played off of a single $25 freeplay bonus, mostly at 20nl and 50nl once I built up a bankroll.

My NL results from 2024...mostly 2/3/5 but a handful of 1/3. Occasionally the 2/3/5 games had $10 straddles. All live cash games.

+$24,671, 154 sessions (winning sessions 56.5%), 500 hours

Hourly rate in BB: 10.65
BB per 100 hands: 34.8
Net hourly rate: $49.34

Based on the feedback that I get in this forum on how I play my hands, I probably ran a little lucky this year.

I occasionally played 8/16 and 10/20 fixed limit while waiting for my NL seats, and lost $282 over 2.5 hrs (7 sessions) played.

I wouldn't worry too much about the advice on this forum, as a whole this forum has a pretty specific profile.

And, wow, I could never play limit anymore, you have my respect, sir!

I mainly play PLO but here are my NLHE results:

Main Casino 1:

2-3 : 96 hours, -712, -7.45 an hour
3-5 : 24 hours, +3268, +135.46 an hour

Main Casino 2:
1-2 : 28 hours, -117, -4.18 an hour
2-3 : 184 hours, +12,500, +67.74 an hour

A La Carte:
22 hours, +1831, +82.46 an hour

Total:
354 hours, +16,770, +47.31 an hour

^^Seems a clear cut case of “Move up to where they respect your raises!”
