Maximizing two spots with angry V
1/3 NLHE
Tables in both hands are loose passive with no competent players.
V is an angry repulsive MAWG that comes into our room sometimes and is offended that I don't remember his name. He seems to think "I get lucky against him". He mutters under his breath after every hand and is always making back-handed comments about people's play like everyone is an idiot except for him. The comments often reflect that he has no understanding of the game. That said, he's a losing loose passive player, but he's not a drooler or a station. As such, his betting range is quite value heavy and despite giving off angry vibes he's not VPIPing that high (in terms of opens anyway). His range is linear in that air gets folded, weakish hands like KTo are limp calls, and value/premium get opened. He's not very stabby and plays draws passively. VPIP/PFR/3-bet of about 30/12/1.
Hand History that pissed him off:
8 handed V limps MP-HJish, SB completes, Hero in BB sees 92o and checks. 3-ways to 9♣ 8♠ 4♥. SB x, H bets 5$, V calls, SB folds. Turn 2♦. H bets, V calls. River K♠ H bets V calls saying "you got there with a king didn't you?" and I take it and he shows QQ. Then proceeds to tell everyone he "had me right where he wanted me".
----
Hand 1 - 6 handed
UTG folds, V opens 15 off a stack of 500 (effective) from MP, CO loose passive 80% VPIP calls, BTN folds, SB folds, H sees A♣ K♣ in BB and decides to just call. 3-ways OOP.
Flop 45 (485 back) - K♦ 8♥ 3♠
Hero checks, V bets 25, CO folds, Hero x/r to 85, V calls
Turn 215 (400 back) - 3♣
Hero bets 120, V calls
River 455 (280 back) - 2♣
Hero?
------
Hand 2 - 8 handed
V straddles BTN off 450 effective stack, one limp in EP, we see K♥ K♦ in LJ and open to 25, V calls, limper folds. HU OOP.
Flop 55 (425 back) - K♠ 4♦ 2♣
H bets 20, V calls
Turn 95 (405 back) - 5♥
H bets 85, V calls
River 265 (320 back) - 6♠
Hero?

h1 never flat akss pre. think id xr flop smaller. ap what can u do except jam
id block or b10 and see what happens in h2, dont think i like turn sizing w ur hand
would likely not bet 92 3 ways either in the history hand tbh
Always squeezing in hand one. I think I understand the logic behind calling (villain splits his range, etc.) but you are OOP and there is dead-money in the middle. Make it $75 and try to take it down pre. Maybe you can flat AKo instead.
As played it almost feels like we have overplayed our hand and I would be tempted to check... But maybe we fold out a chop by jamming?
Hand two, I wish we sized turn to get a geometric river shove. AP I like submersible's idea to block, but realistically think I would always just shove in game and end up hating life when villain open-folds KQ.
(also agree with submersible re: 92o on the flop)
H1 Have to 3bet preflop especially with the loose passive in the middle. I make it 75 to go. As played I like the line but I'm starting to worry about his ability to call off with a King which is also why I like 3bet preflop because it makes the SPR smaller and stack off much easier. Think you have to rip it in and hope he calls with a worse King.
H2 I think in game I check evaluate the river but thinking about it more I actually really like the idea of a block bet trying to get him to call off with two pair.

How is any of that relevant to the two hands in question. Some people grumble about a card to get you to show your hand. It doesn't necessarily mean that the thing saved you.
H1 - 3B pre, to $75. Check flop from OOP. When we check raise, go huge, at least 6x, then just jam turn.
As played, jam river.
H2 - check flop from OOP, especially with top set, heavily blocking his continue range.
As played, you're losing to 87 (doesn't seem very likely) and 3x, likely A3s (maybe sometimes, considering he didn't raise turn). Hard for him to have other thick value that can call a big bet, unless he's just super sticky with all his PP's under our K's, or we're lucky enough for him to have a lower set.
Think I'd down bet to something insulting, like $50, and pray he raises.
With emotional opponents, we should try to encourage them to get out of line, knowing they'll often bet when we check to them or raise when we bet small, and make ridiculously loose calls when we 3B or check raise.
Probably worth noting that he was trapping in that hand with QQ, so we may want to play a little more cautiously in hand 2, where V could show up with some straights that didn't feel the need to raise turn on a rainbow board, when we bet almost full pot. If we know he likes to trap when IP, I could see just check calling the river, or maybe betting 1/2 pot, with a plan to fold if he raises.
