What would you do on the river?

nteresting hand from Eric Poker's vlog (not me unfortunately lol!).

What would you do in this spot? He ended up betting 20% of pot targeting A highs and got called.

Would you bet big here? bet small? give up? Interesting hand for sure and a quite frequent spot.

Blinds: $50/100/200 (Straddle: $200)

Hero: BB (A️ 4️)

Villain(s): UTG ( ***** )

Effective Stack: $25, 000

Preflop ($350):

Hero raises $1, 100, UTG 3-bets $3, 500, Hero calls

Flop ($7, 050): 3️ 5️ 7

Hero checks, UTG bets $2, 800, Hero calls

Turn ($12, 650): 3️ 5️ 7️ 10

Hero checks, UTG checks

River ($12, 650): 3️ 5️ 7️ 10️ 3

Hero bets $2, 500, UTG calls

Total pot: $17, 650

preflop action makes no sense. How can the BB RFI?

then calling the 3! seems bad as well, but need more info maybe.

As for the river bet, why would you target Ahi when your kicker doesn't play? you only get called by hands that you chop with or that beat you.

Just check fold river unless there's more info on villain to justify this kind of bad/loose play.

Since you posted this same random hand on Reddit, are you still trying to shill your HH software here despite the mods asking you to back off?

I don't mind you posting hands that have your "generated by pokerhandhistory.com" tag line on the bottom, but your suit emojis don't work on VBulletin's software, so please either disable them and just use the first letter, or use the html, which is colon, followed by the name of the suit, followed by another colon, for example (without the spaces, which I added so you can see the text) : diamond :

As for the hand itself, do not include last action from hero, nor V's response. Results bias advice. Get up to the point where you have a question and stop. I edited them out. Lastly, there isn't a rule against reposting other people's hands if you have a question about them, but it should be a rare occurrence, not the bulk of your posting.

As for the hand history, as mentioned above, it can't be correct, but if I had A4o in the BB, I would not have called a 3-bet, and if I somehow got to the river with A-high 4 kicker on a 357T3, I would never consider betting small, since I can't beat any A-high except A2, much less any pairs. It would have to be a big bluff or a give up. Based on the comments you made that talked about results, though, I suspect something else is wrong with the HH.

I am assuming by targeting A high you mean he was targeting a high to fold.

It's really hard to be objective when you tell us that he bluffed and got called. I would stop the hand before hero's final action in the post. On the river it is close between betting 2/3 pot or so and checking. You beat some king highs that might check back. 20% pot doesn't seem like it gets ace high to fold. If we had 86, preferably no clubs, that would be a good candidate to go 20% pot as a bluff to get random k high, q high, j high type hands to fold. There we have no chance to win if we check, but if we fold out 1/6 of his range we profit.

Preflop is a mess. I don't like the 5.5x open and I certainly don't like callinf a 3b. I would prefer going 3x pre. Some people go 4x in the sb/bb in straddled pots, but we're not giving ourselves a good price to steal at 5.5x. And we're winning meaningful money (300) by stealing here if straddle folds, so I would try to give myself a good price to steal.

Flop check call is fine, but check raise is also a nice option.
