Hypothetical flopped set

Hypothetical flopped set

We have 22 in the BB. An aggressive player who c-bets a lot of flops raises UTG. 2 cold calls, the SB folds and we call. Just for the sake of discussion let's say all 3 villains are prone to call one small bet on the flop with just about anything.

4 players, 4BB, flop comes K72r.

EDIT: Were this a 4-way limped pot, I'd want to bet out rather than miss an opportunity to build a pot with a monster. The pot being a raised pot instead, I'm still gunshy about trying for a checkraise - on this board, the chance anybody has anything is pretty low and I don't want to see it get checked around.

Do you even consider going for a checkraise here?

I go for a check raise close to 100% of the time here. It is rare to see a 4 way raised pot get checked through, particularly on such a dry board.

yep

If you lead and the initial raiser raises you very well may lose a lot of value if everyone else folds.

K72 is a very favorable board for an UTG raiser. Even 4 ways, I would expect many villains to bet this flop 100% of the time. You say the raiser c-bets a lot, and if he does so, he almost certainly is c-betting this flop a lot. And if somehow it checks through, you still have two more streets of potential value.

its pretty likely if you bet either everyone will just fold or the PFR will raise and shutout the other two players.

You said yourself he cbets a lot of flops, and a flop like this tends to be over-cbet in general.

Save your leads for middling, wet, connected boards where you can build value with your straights, sets, and two pairs and balance it with very strong draws.
