4/8 Capped Pre SB with 78s
8 handed, mix of loose passive and 1 or 2 more aggro.
UTG fold, limp, Mp raise, call, Fishy V call, BTN 3!, I look at 7♠8 ♠ and Cap, figuring it will be capped anyway and I am not folding. BB folds. 1 more fold, 4 calls.
5 way flop, 10 ish BB
Flop is bingo, 456 with 2 ♠
I lead, 3 calls, BTN raises, I 3!, 2 folds, V ccs and BTN calls. V has a wide range Pre, he loves his little connectors, suiteds and any pair, could have a set, draw, 2P or a straight or a better FD. I figure BTN has QQ-AA, maybe something like suited broadway spades. 14.5BB
Turn is Q♠
I lead, V calls, BTN folds. Guess BTN doesn't have spades. V is fishy but I have played with him ALOT, he is tricky enough to wait for the river here if he has them. 16.5 BB
River is another Q.
Clear VB here?

What’s your plan if villain raises your river bet?
Against a fishy villain he might raise thinking three Queens is the best hand so if you bet and are raised unless I’m missing something you pretty much have to call.
Is folding preflop bad?
I prefer cold calling to capping preflop (though I definitely would not fold). The rest looks great and river is an easy bet/call.
I probably play too tight but I don’t like calling 2.5 bets from the worst possible position especially with the three better on the button.

My realtime here was
If he flopped a set I am getting raised and ofc will call.
If he flopped the FD and waited I am getting raised and call.
If he flopped a straight( which I block some) I will get paid 1 bet.
If he flopped 2p he just got counterfeited and thinking I capped pre w AA might find a fold so I don't get paid.
I didn't ever think he might have a naked Q but suppose its possible with a fishy player.
Spoiler
I checked the river, he checks, says' I flopped straight', I say' I did too', he tables 78o expecting a chop as I continue, 'and I turned a flush' and show my hand. I owed him for some ridiculous runouts he has had against me, all in good fun, he took it in the same spirit he gives it to me.
calling preflop probably is a losing play by like 50 cents but its 4/8 so w/e. how you react to playing the hand is far more important. will you tilt if you flop a monster or draw and lose? will you tilt if you would have flopped a huge hand but folded pre? i have a tendency to tilt when i play tight because of entitlement so for me id call.
i woudlnt cap though. and b/c the river.
The cap was more for table/Reg image than anything else. Couple Regs were at the table.
I guarantee none of them put me on my hand. "Oh the NIT Tag capped in the SB he must have AA"

The Intelligent Poker Player would love this play, but he recommends doing it with a small pocket pair rather than a middling suited connector. The concept is the same though and I actually really like this play now that you have explained it.
