8 16 TPGK BB

8/16 8 handed, game is rather tight and boring but some new blood has joined to our must move table.

V is new and unknown.

4 limpers to me in BB with KTo including SB.

Flop is K86 with 2 clubs, I do not have a club.

SB checks, I check, UTG bets, folds to me I cr, call.

Turn is the T of clubs. I check(?) , UTG hesitates and checks behind.

River is another T, I bet out, V grimaces and calls with his turned flush.

I have found at 8/16 checking thru the turned flush is a thing, esp multiway. If I bet and was cr'd on the turn I am calling with top 2 and probably calling the river UI against an unknown but could fold against certain players.

Also seems fine.

Why do you suppose they're checking back flushes? They dont think they get value?

In all likelihood it's prolly imitating the latest sunrunner. It's bad play, imo.

I think you played this hand poorly.
Just bet the flop, why get fancy?
As played (or if you had bet the flop and gotten called), bet the turn unless you have some kind of read that he usually has a flush here.

But the villain played it terribly.
Lol at checking back his flush. Gave you a free chance to fill up and could have easily gotten you to call even if drawing dead. And then he showed you his flush to let you know how badly he played it, er... I mean how lucky you got.

This hand goes to show that even in a tight and boring game, players can be making many mistakes, even huge ones like his turn check.

I thought the flop CR was fine, even though the game was tight, LP players almost always bet if it was checked mw.
Interesting if I bet out on flop, then bet the turn, what does flush guy do? Call or raise? As bad as he played I would not be surprised if he just called. I agree I probably should have bet the turn either way though.

When it's just limped preflop and it's a fairly passive game, I just don't think there's a reason to be sure that someone is going to bet for you.

You really have to bet the turn here. It’s heads up and he can have all sorts of hands here

Turn check is really bad. You usually have the best hand and you are giving a ton of free cards to one-card flush and straight draws. If you’re playing with folks who will check the turn with a flush (which is truly awful btw), you may not get raised on the turn, which further weighs in favor of betting.

I’m ok with the flop c/r. I don’t think it gets checked through that often 5 ways. If it were like K27r I think the case for leading is stronger.
