This is probably a good sign, right?

So September felt like I was running awful. Terrible. Not playing my 'A' game all the time. Flopping trips and already being behind, chasing big pots and missing draws, folding good pot rivers on terrible 4 card straight/flush boards to obvious winners, bad beats, missed flops, blah blah blah.

1 session of 8/16 which was a winner, the rest 4/8. 85.5 hours. I was down $282 for the month, with one $450 high hand bonus helping reduce my loss, but I still consider this part of my wr as rb.

If I felt that much run bad having such a small loss should be a good sign for me? I recall only 2 brief periods of monkey tilt and then racking up and leaving.

For reference, my other losing months this year were March and May, about $800 each. I average somewhere around 60-80 hours/month.

Naturally I keep track of my win rate, but consider decision making more important. My goal for every session is to make the right decision each and every time and the win rate will take care of itself. There's been plenty of sessions where I've won but been disappointed with my overall decision making. My last session was a loser but was pleased with how I played.

At 4/8 this year what is your hourly rate? And yes, I consider the HH's and such part of the hourly as well. What is that rate over the last three months? Do you feel as though you've improved your game this year?

Lastly, with all the volume you put in, you should be past the monkey tilt stage. It's 4/8, it's not life changing money or a job. It's supposed to be fun, treat it as such.

Not counting September- 3 month WR- 263 hours, $11.28/hr, 8 month 585 hr, 7.68/hr. Always trying to improve. And the monkey tilt is probably what I have to work on most. Agree about the good decision part. Had many losing sessions where I felt I played well but the cards just didn't cooperate.

OK, so counting September assuming 80 hours, for the year you're averaging $6.33/hr or 0.79 big bets/hr. Pretty good considering the rake at 4/8.

Can't sweat short term variance, good or bad. Happens to everybody. Gotta get used to it, sort of like monkey tilt.

Yeah, seems like a decent win rate to me, unless your high hands have been running significantly above expectation. About 10 years ago Mason said a good player could only expect to make about $5 per hour in a decent 4/8 game, and that was with Vegas rake which was pretty low at that time.

The HH promos at my local have been crazy generous lately(500 3 days a week and 1k on promo days 1-2 times a month) and I won a couple in May/June/July but the 450 referenced above was my first HH in over 110 hours. My goal is a WR of about $10/hr playing 4/8 with promos, and when I can get the volume, $16/hr at 8/16. As stated before, 8/16 only goes during big promo day at my local and it easier to play 4/8 than to drive an extra 30 minutes RT to the other casino with 8/16.

Planning to move next year, should be 5-10 minutes closer to both places which should help get me to the 8/16 more often.
