Too Nitty?

4/8 8 handed. Mostly unknowns as I am trying a new place.

UTG limps, fold, I raise red queens, only BB and limper call. 3 BB

Flop is ATX all clubs. BB checks, limper bets, I fold.

Well played.

Yes, too nitty.

It's hard to know what this flop bet means or represents. It could be a flush or an Ace, but it could also be a flush draw, a Ten (with or without a club), or a combo draw like KJ with the Jack of clubs. Call once; reevaluate after you see the turn and the turn action.

Recently I played a hand in which the flop came AQ4, all spades, and the small blind led out with pocket 3's with the 3 of spades. This may be an extreme example of clueless play, but saying "mostly unknowns" is a bit of a copout. After observing your opponents for an hour, you should have some sense of who's competent, who's loose, and who might be inclined to make a probe bet on a scary flop to find out where they're at and/or get the preflop raiser to fold the best hand.

THIS IS WHY 4/8 IS BEATABLE....BECAUSE PEOPLE PLAY BADLY PRE & POST FLOP. LIKE AG SAID U SHOULD KNOW WHO IS CAPABLE OF BLUFFING HERE...OR AT LEAST WHO IS NOT.

AS FOR THE HAND...FOLD SEEMS OK. THERE ARE BETTER SPOTS TO GET UR MONEY IN!!!!! SOMEONE COULD EASILY HAVE AN ACE, BB MIGHT RAISE....

You were correct to fold. Most likely you are drawing dead to runner runner. Even if no one yet has a flush, someone almost certainly has an ace and someone else has a club.

If the hand that eventually won was worse than a pair of Qs, that's a 1% fluke. If you would have won because you would have been very lucky after your fold, you still did the right thing - don't be really oriented.

I would fold here as well. He's betting into two people, your equity is not good even if you currently have the best hand, and you are going to have to call 2.5 more big bets to get to showdown.
