Background-about a year ago I was playing next to V for a few hours and he was racking off playing too many hands etc. , typical 4/8 player.
He finally hit quads and won a $500 high hand promo , got his money and started to rack up, I said "don't forget your dealer" he said 'are you kidding I just got back to even' and took off.
Today I am UTG 6 handed and raise with KJ♣, he is to my left and calls, Bad BTN calls, drooler BB calls.
Flop comes A♣ J ♦ T ♣ BB checks, I bet, V calls, call ,call.
Turn is bingo Q♣
BB checks I bet V raises, BTN folds, drooler calls, I call.
River is a blank. BB checks, I check, V bets, BB folds I raise V complains and calls.
I show, give dealer $5 and then $25 after I scoop(HH promo was 250 today) as V complains I was being greedy to c/r him.
I say, "yeah, I am greedy"

3b the turn, not sure what you're waiting for. they are both drawing dead and willing to put more money in the pot, so let them. the board is only going to get scarier.

I think you should mind your own business regarding somebody tipping the dealer.
You are welcome to tell me that, sometimes people get excited about a big win and forget. Including me. I welcome the reminders.
I will still remind you. Dude won $500 in a 4/8 game and tipped nothing. Maybe he had a history with the dealer, I have had guys tell me that.
Most of the bad tippers in my room are also the biggest jerkwads. ymmv.

My thought in RT was to go for the river Villian bet/ drooler overcall and x/r. 3bet turn was probably right, drooler wanted to see the river for sure.
i am actually against tipping in 4/8. the casino takes so much off the table already. id rather the money stay in play. you never notice how no one ever has a big stack in the game? at most tip $1.
if the dealers dont like it they can refuse to deal it, maybe then the casino will actually make the low game 8/16.

very fair point. I tip $1 95% of the time. There are big stacks when the right table is going. But I am finding it very hard to beat the rake, am managing to and I am still improving.
My place spreads a 3/6 game for the High Hand promo chasers that get mad when they have to call my PF raise with their 63o and K2o at the 4/8 game while they wait for the 3/6 to start. They are just paying rake to chase the HH.

I agree that 4/8 is an unbeatable rake trap, but that’s not the dealers’ fault and doesn’t justify stiffing them on a tip. I don’t necessarily think it’s my place (or the OP’s place) to police this, but the idea that you shouldn’t tip because the rake is too high just seems misplaced to me.

It’s not the food servers fault or the dealers fault. You made a conscious decision to play poker knowing that the rake is high and it’s not like anyone put a gun to your head forcing you to play.

the point is that the money stays in play. when more money is on the table the game plays better. if $7 is taken off the table per hand, no one has money in front, and when there are lots of shorts stacks the game is always bad.
tbh think 4/8 should not exist at all.
I give tips regularly for regular hands, but almost never for promotions.
I don't know why dealers should be paid more just because you have to lose more money from each pot you win and then occasionally get some of it back.
