xr'd after I bet my straight

xr'd after I bet my straight

Pretty sure this is bad.

V is quiet, haven't played with him much, he has earbuds and never says much. Seems to limp and chase too much. Not very aggressive that I have seen.

4/8 2 limps to me OTB I limp with 98, about half the time I throw in a raise here.

SB folds, BB checks.

Flop is QJ9, 2 hearts. 3 checks to me I bet my pair and gutshot. 3 calls. 4 BB pot

Turn is a non heart T, checks to me, I bet, BB raises, folds to me. 7 BB, I think I need to fold? He is telling me he has a K with his raise. Maybe a set or 2P.

I decide to call and the river is a non heart K.

V says something like' are you kidding me?' but then bets out. I call.

Raise pre. Check flop. Check turn.

Checking turn is mandatory. Honestly I'd probably fold to the check/raise against most players. Your hand looks like a king but he still check/raises. Even the dumbest of fish can read 4 to a straight on a 9TJQ board.

River I probably call doubt he has an ace and if he does NH

You absolutely have to check the turn.

River is definitely not a fold. You chop often enough to make this a call. Against a very specific villain type (too tight/straightforward and tries too hard to play well), I would consider raising the river as a bluff. But at a 4/8 game with a normal player type, I’d call 99% of the time.

As played I think the turn is a fold against a typical 4/8 player.

If I check the turn I am going to call that river if he bets. If he checks I check behind the river.

His AKo was good.

***I was thinking about this hand again and I mis-remembered the river action, he actually bet dark and then made the comment after the K hit.****

the money goes in better if you check the turn and bet the river if he checks again.
