Bike 40 - KK

I post in between and get dealt black KK. It's folded to a massive LAG OTB who raises. I 3bet, SB folds, and BB (good female asian TAG who usually plays 60) calls 2 cold from the BB. LAG 4bets and we both call.

Flop TT4r. I check (intending to CR a bet from the button) and the BB donks. BTN calls and I call, partly because I didn't anticipate this contingency and partly because I'm slightly concerned she has a T and is trying to donk/3bet.

Turn Qr. Checked around.

River 2. I check once again, BB leads, LAG folds, I c/r intending to call a 3bet.

C/r flop, bet river. As played like river c/r

With the LAG raising from button and capping I prefer leading the flop. LAG might not bet flop which would be catastrophic. LAGS are LAG but they’re all created differently and some may not bet this type of flop with the strength of your three bet and a skilled big blind taking two. With BB betting the flop we’re in a quandary. I like your river creativity, something which I’m lacking. I suspect BB has a medium PP.

My caveman stereotyping makes me think bb lead is something like a pocket pair looking for some implicit collusion from LAG rather than a T that could kr trap the field more profitably. Depends on the LAG, I suppose.

C/r flop against good thinking regs while c/r turn against mindless reg/rec. The donk flop I tend to see more I have a weak sd hand that would like a Btn raise w good Ax to get third player out.

You're now looking at a pot that's getting big. So, I like your flop call since a check-raise won't eliminate anyone.

On the turn, I think a lead is better. If the player in the big blind had a ten, would she want to lead and possibly win the pot right there? So, in my opinion, it's less likely, but not impossible, that she has a ten, and the button is the type of player, based on your description, that should frequently call the flop bet, but may not call the larger turn bet.

It's important to understand that when the pot gets big you often want to win it before the river or at least reduce the chance an opponent will draw out on you on the river (by eliminating him on the turn). Sometimes playing this way will seem a little unorthodox, but it can save you a large pot every now and then.
