Bike 40 - Donk Check

Bike 40 - Donk Check

Quiet TAG asian guy who doesn't chop, doesn't open limp, and doesn't cold call opens the HJ. It's folded to me in the SB and I 3bet 6h6c. BB (older asian guy who is not very good) calls 2 cold and the HJ also calls.

Flop 987dd. I donk check.

I like

I’m assuming a donk check is checking.

The biggest problem with checking is if the big blind bets and the TAG raises you’re in a very awkward spot. I would probably bet the flop and play accordingly. In general if I three bet from the SB I’m going to be most flops if I have a piece of it.

I want to know your plan for the rest of the hand after checking.

Yes, it means checking when you have the betting lead out of position.

I think I am ok with folding if it goes bet/raise. I’m not thrilled to see a six or a ten and I don’t want to be in a position where I’m forced to invest two or three bets to see a turn. I also don’t think most villains will try to muscle you out with over cards on this texture on the same way they might on an 842 flop or the like so I’m less worried about getting bluffed than I otherwise would be in this dynamic.

If BB bets, I call for one and fold for two. If BB checks and the PFR bets, I would call and see what happened. I tend to think my hand is deceptively weak on this texture but is in much better shape against one player than two.
