20/40 with 88 flopped set multiway pot

New player posts between in full 8 handed game

I raise UTG with black 88. Button, post between guy, and blinds call.

Flop Jc 8h 2s (5 BB)

Checks to me, I bet, button folds, post between raises, blinds fold. I call? (should I raise here?)

Turn Jc 8h 2s 2c (7 BB). He bets, I raise

Reason I'm posting this hand is because it just seems super strong to raise here on the turn, although maybe that just means I should have some bluffs here. The nice thing is that we unblock jacks which will likely bet/call.

No reads on this guy, never played with him before.

Seems standard. He’s not folding a Jack and he could check the river

Would you 3bet flop or just call?

Once its heads up and you are in position, just call

You might get more action if you 3 bet the flop if he has a straight draw or a big Jack and if he’s really aggressive he might even reraise. OTOH if he has a marginal hand he might fold when you raise the turn.

I play it the same as a default. I’d only 3bet flop against someone who interprets fast playing the flop as a sign of a medium strength made hand.

would you fold Jx or an overpair to this action? i couldnt unless it was a weak J.
