I open KsKh UTG and get three calls.
5s5hA.....I am first to act. What should be the plan? I ended up betting but I think checking might be the play. A loose passive raises next to act (He's only been at the table 20 minutes but has played a lot of hands and no pre flop raises. I don't know what he is capable of post flop) and it's folded back to be. How do we proceed?

Fwiw I check here. I’d be more inclined to bet with a hand like 99-JJ because we deny more equity with that bet.
As played this is a gross spot but I think a call at least once is necessary.
I’d check flop too. As played I usually would take one off on the flop and then fold most turn cards, especially if the flop is rainbow.
