They each released a YT vid at the same time discussing it:

Pretty cool development, excited to see how this turns out. I wish them the best.
Why is Doug always considered this genius or super amazing player, because he used to be a great heads up player 20 years ago lol?
Not hating at all i'm just genuinely asking the question as to why hes considered this super trustworthy figure of poker and now business ventures? Everything i remember over the years on here are him pumping some sorta businesses that didn't exactly have the greatest outcomes or reviews on here. Just watching the recent few streams or shorts i've seen are of him is losing these huge pots and just pulling out like 300k more to reload like they are dollar chips... Maybe hes crushing everything and raking in money nonstop but something just seems strange i guess. But i am curious why everyone thinks of him still as this amazing player and heads up god?
Exactly. These same internet idiots would be blaming Patrick Mahomes if State Farm denies their claim or something.
Sorry, I missed the part where Mahomes had a YouTube channel named “Patrick Mahomes insurance” built exclusively on trashing others presenting himself as holier than thou, while his video editor was putting dildos in Geicos employees mouth. But other than that, good analogy!

Exactly. It's such a a terrible analogy.
It’s almost like there’s varying degrees of endorsement that have varying levels of responsibility. Weird. Saying something is fully collateralized when it’s not and misleading investors is a lot different then I use State Farm for my insurance they’re awesome!
stream is up today
up for my bias opinion on this stream haha
...very fishy ruling here
That’s a terrible ruling for a bbjp, first time i hear of something like this.
Dumb ruling. Has to be on flop only?
Another dumb ruling - mods moving this here where it’s hidden and not having its own thread since it’s a pretty interesting topic and worthy of its own discussion
Ruling is correct. ALL rules must apply and be followed for the hand to qualify. You don't just get to pick and choose which ones do and don't. You must play your best 5 card hand which is now a royal for KQdd and wasn't flopped. Sometimes in poker, you get royally ****ed over by the deck. This is not new.

Its better on reddit, mods here suck
I lost with a straight flush once also in plo and all I got was to rebuy.
The only discussion to be had is if the rule should be removed in the future. Which Doug has stated they will consider for the next one.
The rule was currently there for all to see. The winning and losing hands were not made on the flop. The winning hand was made on the river. Counterfeits happen in poker. Such is life.
Most rooms don’t even have a PLO BBJ. And most rooms use extra money from players to fund BBJ. The Lodge is running a PLO BBJ *and* requiring no extra money from players. That’s way more positive than the negative of a 5% one outer happening that voided the BBJ.
People would be a lot happier if they’d stop focusing on minuscule things just because they don’t’ like the guy.
The last two months people have been mad because WSOP didn’t stick to some grey area rules over a computer on the rail (and rightfully so), but now are mad when a business sticks to rules that were in plain black and white English.

The distinction between using the rake to fund a BBJ and using extra rake to fund a BBJ is legitimately ******ed. You aren't even making a point.

This is spot on and absolutely hilarious.

Players can now win part of a 100k+ bad beat without paying additional money to the Lodge that they weren't already paying while they played. Not sure why some people are pretending there's no difference between this and casino that take a BBJ drop to fund the promo.

I dunno, I'd argue these rules are open to a little interpretation
The qualifier in 4-card Omaha is a Straight Flush (flop only).
The winning and losing players must use exactly two hole cards to create the highest possible 5-card hand.
In Omaha games, both the winning and losing hands must be flopped.
The 1st and 3rd rules above specify specifically the flop.
The middle rule, which is what is being quoted as the rule that kills the BBJ, doesn't specify at what point they must have used the 2 hole cards.
You could argue that the wording "winning and losing players" refers to the winner and loser in the BBJ rather than the hand?
The fact a better hand was made at the river, doesn't negate the fact it was flopped and the winner and the loser of the hand used exactly two hole cards on the flop to create the best possible 5 card hand.
Yeah, it's 100% standard based on common rules for PLO jackpots. We have all heard of holdem jackpots where both hands must use both cards get screwed on the river, like 9d8d vs JJ on TdJdQdJx when the river is Kd, or AQ vs JJ on AAA on an "aces full of jacks" jackpot and the river comes K or AK vs JJ on AAA and the turn and river come Q-Q.
Incredible the amount of whining and complaining when it's incredibly cut and dried.
1. "The winning and losing hand must be flopped."
2. What was the winnning hand? A royal flush.
3. Was the royal flush flopped? No.
4. Thus, the winning hand was not, in fact, flopped.

1. Why are you assuming that the meaning of winning and losing hand means the winning/losing hand of the pot rather than the winning/losing hand of the BBJ?
Even on 2+2 it's surreal to see an argument as to what "winning the hand" means
"You win the hand"
"Which one? The hand of the flop?"
"No, the hand of the pot"
Even on 2+2 it's surreal to see an argument as to what "winning the hand" means

Because it isn't clear and you're examples aren't even close to what is written.
"The winning hand" is completely different to "winning the hand"
well, the losing hand actually wins the biggest part of the BBJ so maybe they mean "the losing hand" when they say "the winning hand"!
Or, they mean "the best 5-card hand made under the rules of the game you are playing" like literally every time it is ever mentioned in any poker rules. From the Lodge's bad beat rules: "In order for a hand to be eligible for the Bad Beat, the hand must go to a showdown, i.e., played to the end, where all cards have been dealt and players have completed betting and tabled their cards to determine the winner."
So the winning hand isn't determined until showdown, not on the flop. BUT ALSO in PLO, the hand that is the winning hand must have been flopped.
