Multi-State Internet Gaming Association Announcement

Multi-State Internet Gaming Association Announcement

The Nevada Gaming Control Board just announced that Michigan is being added to the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement. This means that players from Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, and Michigan can now play online poker in the same player pool.

I'm conflicted; it's good to see that the 'main guy' i.e. the governor has his eyes on this bill, but it's my understanding that this bill is not even needed; He & the PA Gaming Board can make this happen without going through all these loopholes. So, it's good to see he's watching, but bad that he's not pushing it through right now.

While many of us keep bringing up the 'domino effect', I truly believe that when PA connects, the 'effect' we're hoping for will finally happen. When West Virginia

Agreed, having the 5th largest population in US joining the 10th and 11th is nice step forward. This PA thing has been teased for so long, I'm just waiting for something to **** it up.

If I am understanding correctly, MGM will ask for another waiver (14th) on their Nevada online poker, so that means nothing will happen this year with them in NV?

I thought they were likely to start in NV this year?

Unless someone else chimes in, it's my understanding that MGM had to waive this another time in order to keep the license valid. Will they launch in NV this year? Only they know. My strong opinion, the status quo doesn't change until PA merges or NY passes their bill.

Does anyone know why MGM MI hasn’t merged with MGM NJ yet? Also why has not WSOP MI merged with NV/NJ?

Why hasn’t WV, CT, or RI joined any compacts?

It all seems like such a mess tbh

1. Does anyone know why MGM MI hasn’t merged with MGM NJ yet?
2. why has not WSOP MI merged with NV/NJ?
3. Why hasn’t WV, CT, or RI joined any compacts?

1. Nobody knows.
2. Nobody knows.
3. Nobody knows.

In all seriousness, nobody knows.

My strong opinion- Expect the status quo to stay the same until PA merges. Once PA merges their pool, it now gives WV/CT/RI an incentive, as well as WSOP/MGM.

Once again though- Nobody knows...

What is delaware's problem. Why can't stars or wsop get in there?

Overall, Delaware can only have one operator; that's the rules. Right now that operator is BetRivers, which now owns Run It Once Poker. When will BetRivers launch Run It Once Poker? Nobody knows...

It was a speculative question silly. Didn’t think we had insiders lurking the forums

Talk of Maryland and PA joining the compact.

Z4 Poker also is holding a license and has spent a millions on product development.

Exclusive: GGPoker Says it Will Take “Active Leadership Role” in US Online Poker
“Expect us to share some news on this front soon,” teases GGPoker’s Global Managing Director, in an exclusive interview with PRO.

"Unfortunately, with the current operators in the market, we don’t believe anything will likely change in the US, so we know we need to step in and take an active leadership role in the market to help guide its future"

"When pokerfuse asked about GGPoker’s US initiatives last year, the operator expressed that it 'is actively exploring opportunities to make our great software and games available to American players."

"Partnering with WSOP, as it did in Ontario, appears to be a pragmatic approach.

There’s another glaring issue: WSOP currently holds a contract with 888poker, set to last until 2026. This agreement sees 888 power WSOP’s operations in the US in Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan for another two years."

I hope GGPoker stays OUT of the US ... their goal seems to be making poker just another game where only the house can win.

Can't imagine getting a legal US poker pool would be bad for us.

WSOP Canada (run by/in collaboration with GG) has a $4 rake cap at $0.25/$0.50 ... that is insanity. By far the highest rake structure anywhere - without even considering that they rake preflop on top of it ... and shitty reward system. This cannot become standard. 50NL rake cap on Stars MI/NJ is $2.50, no preflop rake, ok rewards program. ACR cap is $3.00, no preflop rake, with a decent rewards program.

GGPoker is not good for Poker. All they are concerned about is profits and they hate when players win long term. If we reward them with our play, little by little they will keep adding on even more rake, taking away rewards and whittling away at any possible edge a player can have, until there is nothing left.

The only possible good thing that could come from them getting involved is if a new state comes on due to lobbying, but even that won't be good if Stars or another big player get in (literally anyone besides GG).

Maryland Online Gaming, Poker Nixed In Senate
Bill Dies For Second-Straight Year

With 6.2 million people, Maryland could have been a nice addition to the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA)

Wow $4 rake and rake pre is crazy on a small game.

WSOP is $2.75 max on 50nl 5 handed+ and nothing pre.

What I meant to say was "but even that won't be good if Stars or another big player DON'T get in"

Yep. $4+preflop rake is straight up CRIMINAL at 50NL.

GGPoker will be involved one way or another. WSOP’s contract with 888 expires in 2026. Given GGs and WSOPs current partnership, that looks like when they could potentially join the market

We will also see WPT global and RIO join at some point. My guess is when we get more states combined into the compact

It’s unfortunate to see online gaming struggle so badly. When you look at sports betting with 40+ states in under a few years, igaming seems like such an afterthought at this point. Given how much they can make from online casinos it’s surprising more bills haven’t been pushed through

New software coming finally, according to this writer for Pokerfuse.

I hate politicians. They are scum.

Breaking: WSOP.com to Make Upgrades, Share Liquidity Across MI, NJ, and NV

Is a combined player pool good for a reasonably ok-ish mid stakes MTT player?

The more players, the better. The best way I can describe it:

If you're looking to make $500,000+, how would you prefer to do it?
A. Grind for years
B. Make it in one tournament

Same goes for Spin & Go Players:
If you're looking to make $1,000,000, how would you prefer to do it?
A. Grind for years
B. Make it in one game

More players makes it harder to win tournaments, but the amount of players also increases the prize pools.

Now, for cash game players I understand it's a different ball game, but without combined pools, the game will eventually dry up. No players means no $ to advertise to new fish.

I have heard from a couple of cash game players in Michigan that their experience on Michigan's joining a combined pool was that all of a sudden there were a bunch of tough new regs cutting a swath through the pool, to the detriment of the Michigan fun player's experience.

That's on Stars which won't be apart of a NV pack anytime soon. Here are the games running on WSOP Michigan right now as of 9:15 pm.

20nl - 6 players
50nl - 11 players
100nl - 12 players
200nl - 2 players waiting
500nl - 13 players
20plo - 6 players
50plo - 5 players
100plo - 12 players
200plo - 4 players
500plo - 5 players

There are probably this many people playing alone playing 200NL on Stars MI/NJ and about 30 more at 500nl and lord knows how many under. WSOP cash games could use a huge shot to the arm in this area. I'm curious what happens if this ever goes though. WSOP feels like you're playing on a slow app. PokerStars is as solid as it was 20 years ago. BetMGM Michigan just ran a Spring Tournament series where 38 out of 65 events couldn't meet their guarantee, paying out $63,576 in overlay and only raking in 66k for the series.

People need to adapt, states need to fall in line or regulated online poker is in trouble
