I love Jamie Kerstetter as much as anybody, but why do they keep saying she has "nearly 200 cashes in WSOP events?"

Phil has the record at 181. What am I missing? Are they counting Circuit events or something? Kind of misleading if so.

She appears to have a lot of WSOP Circuit cashes, which they are including in that total.

HoF nominees:

Patrik Antonius
Josh Arieh
Barny Boatman
"Miami" John Cernuto
Ted Forrest
Kathy Liebert
Mike Matusow
Matt Savage
Isai Scheinberg
Bill Smith

They really need to split players and other contributors into separate categories.

Patrik is the clear choice among the players if we go by the actual criteria:

- A gambler must have played poker against acknowledged top competition,
- Played for high stakes,
- Played

Lots of good choices; also Mike Matusow.

Apparently Jennifer Shahade.

She TALKS with very strange INFLECTIONS and every SENTENCE sounds like a question? And a lisp. This and hammered Conrad Simpson on the rail make this hard to listen to.

I didn't care much for her when she was on the Chess broadcasts for the St Louis Chess Club. She hasn't been there since that sex assault allegation against Ramirez.

Checked out the Poker ORG lounge yesterday, nice place to hang out next to the Binions steakhouse for any of the ORG newsletter members

Nobody has stood the test to time more then Miami John. More reason to elect 2 or 3 a year. And with tons of good candidates eligible in the next few years its only going to get worse.

Arieh and Antonius are my picks, but they should have 2. So many good choices now, and so many ridiculous people already in it.

WSOP's site had the J7s hand that they gii on the flop, which would make sense, but isn't what happened.

That Jamie is hot. All the womens final table were lookers accept the older one.

$25k PLO finale table question: Are the squares chips or something else?

I believe time banks.

Wowzers, are those hand reports written by AI or something? That multiple-conjunction, "predicate and predicate and predicate and predicate" style ranks as one of the most awkward styles of writing I've ever seen. Imagine if sports broadcasters talked like that.

"Morrow is back there and now Johnson and 19 seconds and Johnson over to Ramsey and Bilyaletdinov gets checked by Ramsey. McClahanan is there and the puck is still loose and 11 seconds and you've got 10 seconds and the countdown going on right now. Morrow up the slope and five seconds and do you believe in miracles and yes and unbelievable."

Or...

"Bobby Thomson is up there swinging and he's two out of three with a single and a double and Billy Cox is playing him right on the third-base line and one out and last of the ninth and Branca pitches and Bobby takes a strike call on the inside corner. Bobby hitting at two ninety two and he has had a single and a double and he drove in the Giants' first run with a long fly to center. Brooklyn leads it, four to two, and Hartung down the line at third and not taking any chances and Lockman is without too big of a lead at second but he'll be running like the wind if Thomson hits one. Branca throws and there's a long drive and it's gonna be, I believe and the Giants win the pennant and the Giants win the pennant and the Giants win the pennant and the Giants win the pennant and Bobby Thomson hits it into the lower deck of the left-field stands and the Giants win the pennant and they're going crazy and they're going crazy."

(Okay, never mind, I guess it's not that far off from the way announcers talk.)

Still weird, though. Reminds me of the way little kids tell stories in long, run-on sentences. Maybe the reporters now dictate the action into their phones, with voice-to-text software converting, then no one edits the text before posting.

Brandon? I remember him saying razz was his best game when he won the 10k razz championship a few years back..

anyone know why he always wears a beanie? even when he is in the gym or in the comfort of his own house he wears that likely smelly beanie

Hello, I began wearing it shortly after my mom passed away when I was 15 probably because I found it comforting. I'm also neurodivergent to some extent, and am sensitive to sensory things - in this case materials that feel soft to me. Likely some genetic disposition too since my biological dad wears one, and wears a hoodie over it ( he calls this vultching - like a vulture ), I had no point of reference for this as we were reunited in my early 30s. I have a bunch of them, so theyre clean, thanks.

Yes, I did dedicate a handful of years to playing mostly Razz, but the games and strategies are always changing

Anyhow sorry to derail this thread with my bullshit. Enjoy your summer

Todd Brunson in 2nd place with 7 left in 10K Stud8. He made the final table in it a few years ago and lost chips or busted out on a hand where he bluffed / overplayed with buried 9s and a low card showing.

Yeah, incorrect hand history and terrible writing from the WSOP site on the overplayed J7s hand from the womens event.

You remember the whole "cool story, bro" meme from the 2000s? In this case, yours is genuinely a cool story, bro.

Rast in 2nd of 3 in $25K PLO.

Rast with 70% of the chips in play 3-handed in the $25K PLO.

Could JNandez do commentary if he wasn't allowed to say "blocker/block"?
Some are saying no...

Eldridge sure got away with a lot of Bluffs headsup against Brian Rast.
GG Rast

Don’t know who Eldridge is but he was impressive. I expected Rast to take it down fairly easily.

Tell me you don't play PLO without telling me you don't play PLO

The key hand was a huge pot where he got Rast to fold a low straight with no flushes or boats possible.

Thing is that blockers/sidecards is to PLO how frequencies/mixing is to NLHE.

In NL It's like "ok A5s is mostly a fold here but sometimes you jam"
While in PLO it's "ok top2 here is a call if you dont have backup but if your sidecards have a bdfd or gutter you jam"

Solver outputs in NL show frequencies, while solver outputs in PLO use the sidecards to decide between actions instead..

So it's like asking someone to do NLHE commentary without using the word "sometimes" or "frequency"

Tell me you don't play PLO without telling me you don't play PLO

I don’t play PLO, but even I know that if you don’t factor in blockers, every hand is just 50/50 against every other hand on every street. Or at least that’s my impression of the game.

Main Event starts today, gl to all participating!
