The 2024 WSOP will take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas from May 28 to July 17, 2024, with the Main Event running from July 3 to July 17. The Main Event – poker’s undisputed freezeout world championship – will have four starting days, beginning on Wednesday, July 3. Players may also register directly on Day 2.

Pretty much terribad to think you’re getting grandpa-rec player to fold his pocket aces on Day 1 ME lol. Might’ve worked against a skilled pro, but geez, 1st rule of Day 1 ME is don’t try to naked bluff rec-fun players off their “monsters”.

Why is main event registration down so much from last year? Nearly all other events saw an increase vs last year.

Sad to see. I already thought we had a boom coming on, but seems like last year was the peak which will be hard to beat. Just more regs and less recs.
Some events are making new records by small margin this year so that is nice but WSOP Main is the best stat for general intrest in poker. 10k is supposed to be less and less year after year because of inflation but we will see do we ever see the main event start hitting 11k, 12k entry numbers or did we peak last year.
They tried hard to make it big last year and didn't this year

Inflation as measured by CPI fits a lot better for poors actually. It's consumer price index. It measures price levels for the average consumer. Not rich people consumption.
How many people regged on day 2 last year? I think total registration is up to 8.5-8.6k at the moment, lots of day 1d buy ins

Ya $10k is a lot for many. I'm sure a lot of recs would love to play in the main event. Maybe the wsop needs to host some bar league type qualifiers across the country, not sure on legality of something like that though.
I think there will be a lot of Day 2 buyins this year.
Seems like if the day 2 signs up are like last year numbers will be around 9500 but we could easily see more people late regging
