GTOw cheating - python automation
If you cannot see the embeded video here's the original link
Nothing new and definitely not groundbreaking, what is shown in the video can be easily automated

What if I'm away from my pc to take a piss or get a drank or my cay has jumped in my lap to get some loving. Just because a player doesn't install muck a crap hand it isn't always cheating
Agreed ... speed of actions pretty much has nothing to do with whether someone is cheating ... regardless of method.
Every session I play there are at least several hands with easy preflop decisions, but my action is delayed due to an important / hard decision on a different table. Right now I stack my tables, as it's the only way I can play 8-10 tables effectively on a laptop screen.
The biggest problem I see with detecting cheating by comparing to known solutions are that people deviate from solutions all the time in many different ways ... bet sizings, hand selection etc. so it's hard to accurately define what counts as a match when a spot is not identical to the solution in every way.
I can see how someone could still generally follow along with a solution even when they have deviated in some way - such as maybe on the BTN they raise a limper - and decide to follow the CO vs BB solution or they follow a solution that best matches the ranges a villain is playing in a certain spot ... even if the solution they are using isn't actually for that particular spot ... and that could be more detectable ... but it's certainly not easy since there are so many spots to check and millions of hands being played.
This is not a simple problem to solve in any way.
This one is trivial to detect
Agreed ... because it literally pops up a window and is displayed on screen of the same machine you're playing on. I am only commenting on the discussion regarding poker sites implementing some kind of security that would be comparing played hands to published optimal solutions.

They probably do that already, at least the more reputable sites
I'm not gonan comment on what I think you'd need in order to cheat and not get caught because I don't wanna give people any ideas, but it would have to be far more sophysticated than this, unless you play on apps or some site with no accountability
when it can do searching for solutions postflop that's when it's over
isnt this why gtowizard has a feature where they compare HHs to usage history ? also if gtowizard has any moral fibre on their own they would surely have means to notice if someone pings gtowizard for hours every 8th second on average
And a guy calling a turn jam with J2o on AK67cc isn't? It hurts me to even imagine the huge percantage of players in online pools who are cheating by using RTA. Who knew the rigtards would be right all along.
Of course it would be detectable if someone was making calls like that all the time ... but some (rare - due to how extreme of a call it is) players are just bad enough they talk themselves into stupid calls like this or make insane tilt calls, so you can't just automatically say it's cheating when someone does this.
Oh come on man!
Nothing new.
There was a group who was killing high stakes on a euro site few years ago.
And yes, it was WAY MORE sophisticated...
this was true 10 years ago. not to say there wasn't still money to be made online but those who transitioned to big live games made far more, far safer and far easier.
not sure what you mean by "easier"
it's not particularly easy to have access to big private games, otherwise all private games would be filled with good regs, they're not
also you have to travel for that if you don't live in a big city where there are big private games, it's a pain in the ass

Not private games. Public games in casino. I know they are drying up now but 2013 we’re still very good. Pandemic really killed the bigger public games. People got used to private and /or curated games while casinos were closed or poker was very restricted.
so it is effectively not easier at the moment in 2024
I thought playing perfect GTO was only a good thing if your opponents were also playing perfect GTO. It's a good baseline strategy, just like any solver, but if it can't adjust to opponent leaks/weaknesses, then it's leaving money on the table, no?

Only if you adjust better than EVERYONE on the table in the current hand. Otherwise your exploitive play gets exploited.
Somewhat relevant to this discussion, GTO Wizard has a tool that let's you check whether a specific board was solved within a certain time interval:
So I imagine if you expect someone cheating via using GTO Wizard as RTA specifically, their tool could help you test that hypothesis, but I have not tried it out myself. Looks like this is geared toward postflop play however, and the video only seems to be checking preflop ranges.
can even code this with ai nowadays
you seem to think poker = texas holdem.
Holdem is just one of the many variants of poker.
Fortunately us poker players that prefer other variants are not too worried about cheating. Collusion maybe. But it's quite easy to spot this and avoid it and we also get to enjoy higher winrates. 😃
