GGPoker, Natural 8 - $780k top bounty instead of $1M GTD

Good day everyone,

I am the one who won the top bounty in the event: Mystery Million Main Event ($1M top bounty GTD)

I received the letter from GG Poker (Natural 8) about the top bounty was 780k, instead of 1M as it is guaranteed. And their solution to keep the promise is to split $220k to everyone, which in my opinion is totally unfair. The promise is $1M for top bounty, so the one who is affected is me, not other 5000 players who in the money, because they have won more than they are supposed to. I am the only one who lost this amount.

Their tournament is $1M GTD for top bounty, surely that is the main reason many players joined and hunted it. I think that is the promise they should keep of gtd, not spliting money.

LOL, I’m not paid by GG. I’ve never played on GG. I haven’t played any internet poker at all in at least 15 years.

I guess it’s just not clear to me why if this is such a big controversy, why only the OP is complaining about it after the tournament is already over, and not everyone in the tournament as soon as the wrong prize pool was announced.

Because now OP is the only one who got shafted. Everyone else got more money than they should have.

Are you serious? You don’t think players were involved in alerting GG to the incorrect distribution from the time it was discovered to the end of the tournament?

I really don't get it maybe I have a rigid way of seeing the world that I think things should work as they were meant to, people are truthful and honest, and the right thing is done bc its what is right... Why is that so hard?

It seems like anytime something happens like "Guaranteed top bounty $1m" and then top bounty ends up being 780k, take this type of situation and apply it across the board to the myriad of things where something doesn't go as planned, and without fail there are people somehow arguing that this is okay and giving all these justifications and excuses that ultimately mean jack **** to me. They said it was going to be $1m, just make it $1m and be done with it!!!! It actually pisses me off that this happens time and time again in life and instead of everyone unifying with what to me is blatantly obvious what is right and what is wrong, yet that never is the case.

Really? Because he was the only one shorted for no reason,

If that’s true, what GG should have done is suspended the tournament until they could correct the prize pool. Or they should have at least notifed all the players of how they intended to correct the prize pool before the tournament resumed. I’m just saying it seems unfair to signficantly alter the prize pool distribution after the prizes have already been awarded.

But then he could cash it out and they would get less in rake, whereas people won't cash out $4, so they prefer it the other way. Their strategy is to squeeze the lemon while it still has juice in it, so they aren't worried about any longterm reputation hit it costs them amongst readers of poker forms, most people never about it anyway and they just get more rake. It's not about what's "right" it's about what gets them more rake and what the fine print in their TOS allows.

C'mon GG, be the bigger man here and pay the man his money.

Any update, OP, get the 780k off yet?
