The 888poker situation

The 888poker situation

Why no one talks about what is going on with 888poker? They steal from customers, I really don't know how these guys still have a gambling licence. This is a site who have partnership with WSOP.

Hundreds of players have their accounts closed and their bankrolls seized with no explanations. 2+2 and the 888 reddit subs are filled with stories of distressed customers.

How do they proceed? Your account is verified for years but one day you request a withdraw, they block your account and ask you to send verifications documents again (ID , utility bills) , the exact same documents you sent in the past. They keep you blocked for weeks and then inform you that they will discontinue your membership and keep your money, and they can't give you any explanations, and you can't contact them anymore.

888 poker has always been a scammy site, but it seems the turning point is 2022-2023 when they were fined 10 millions $ by Gambling commission for social responsability failures and money laundering. Few years ago they also got fined 8 millions $ .

888 has the worst support and technical team in the industry.

888poker has very very scammy moves. For example the Player for player transfer is converted in bonus money. Yeah you heard me right , someone sends you 500$ , you are not going to receive 500$, it will be bonus money that you have to unlock by playing months, lol.

Few years ago I won on 888 a satellite for a live event, they did not contact me or answer any of my emails regarding the event, and 2 days before the event starts they sent me documentations and the money to arrange my trip. I am dead serious.

And I could tell much more other stories about them. I play poker for 15 years , played on many different poker sites I have never seen something like this. 888 gambling licence should be revoked. The medias need to talk about the 888 situation and inform potential future victims. If you don't believe me check this forum in the online section, and the 888poker sub reddit .

Lol there is no way this is even legal.

not sure if it's legal but it's true, I think it was almost 2 yrs ago a friend of mine had sent 6k on 888, few months later I didn't really remember I had had any transfer but tried to cash out and they said I wasn't allowed to cash out, that I needed to play because that money had been transfered, I had to generate a certain amount of rake, so yeah I had to grind and then cash it out

I thought it was completely ridiculous, cashed out everything and prob never playing there again

once I had cleared the stupid rake they wanted me to clear the withdrawal was processed without any issues at the very least

Sounds similar to what Cake Poker was doing, right before they went under.

What is really shady is that the transfered money gets converted into a bonus that u can only touch if u dont have any other real money in ur account.

That u had to play and generate rake before u were able to cashout a p2p is standard on almost any site nowadays. A friend recently sent me 1k on stars and this money is not available for me to cashout, i can see it in the cashier. The want me to play games worth of 1k with it.

Show me one site in 2024 that will let u withdraw 6k from a p2p without generating a certain amount of rake first.

I mean I dunno I had already paid well above 6 figures in rake on their site prior, didn't think this would be an issue

Isn’t that just anti money laundering measures? Obviously shouldn’t go as bonus funds but allowing a p2p and then allowing receiving player to withdraw instantly would be easy laundering for the criminally inclined.

It does not matter how much u raked before receiving the transfer and im not sure why u think it does.

Yes it has to do with money laundering laws.

There are exception with very small amounts on stars where they did not ask for a rollover and i was able to cashout.

how does it prevent money laundering exactly?

It slows down the process atleast.

Because peope will think twice if they want to use that option only to transfer money.

If i can send 6k to u and u can cash it out without playing, those 6k look like winnings from the site. So everyone who wants to move around illegal money could just find a way to deposit on a pokersite and then send it to someone.

Sites are not banks and they want their cut from the transfer (=rake).

This is what happened to me on full tilt poker .

I only play homes games now !

Deleted-post bug showing up again.

I am experiencing exactly what is mentioned in the first post.

Tell me you have never played on Ignition/Bovada/Bodog without saying you have never played on Ignition/Bovada/Bodog.
