Steve Albini death
Dude lived a heck of a life. 2 Bracelets, good online mixed game grinder and just so happened to produce some absolutely iconic albums.
Met him a few times. Interesting guy. RIP
When I use the word "Icon" I used it with the utmost severity and gravitas. Steve was exactly that, a renaissance man at the least, a savant of the salt for the rest of us. He provided sounds and melodies, from his own hands, that helped a lot of us get through and see the light even if it was dimly lit. His ethics in punk rock and consistency with his execution was that of a sonic surgeon. Never one to shy away from confrontation, Steve would hold up the under served so they could get the last sip of nectar. He always new more than everyone else in the room, but never gloated or exiled you for not having it. Somehow he understood those of us that were on the journey would arrive in a similar vicinity of his understanding and he would be there patiently waiting with that ****ing wry smile as if so say, I'm glad you're here, how was the journey?
This loss is irreparable, but I would think he wouldn't want us to fuss over him like a teenager fresh out of a break up. I think he would say something like, "Yeah, I ****ing died, you can't fix it, help the ones you can and I'll see ya down the road. Just bring enough for 3 buy-ins and stop micing up the ****ing hi-hats!" Be puuuuure energy Steve! Until next time!
RIP
lol, steve albini had 4k posts on 2p2? That is the strangest thing I've read this year. What were his screennames?
The man was an epic musician, RIP.

I recall him browsing/posting on 2+2 in spare moments when recording. His laptop was the only digital piece of technology in the control booth, I think. Its prime function seemed to be 2+2 (certainly wasn’t Protools).
