Combating Poker Scammers www.pokerscammerslist.com

Hey everyone,

I've been asked by the admin of a new site to share some important info with our community. There's a new website called https://www.pokerscammerslist.com designed to help identify and keep poker scammers out of live games. It's already getting traction, with several major casinos agreeing to honor the info provided.

If you're a poker backer or involved in any poker-related business and need to report a scammer, just follow the instructions on the Legal page of the site.

For those associated with casinos in any role—employee, partner, etc.—and interested in collaborating to prevent scammers from entering your venue, please reach out to the site mods directly at support@pokerscammerslist.com. They’ll ensure you receive updates on new scammers added to the database via your preferred contact method.

Disclaimer: This site is not replicating the NFT section of 2p2, the Arbitrage section of GipsyTeam, or any private blacklists. Moderators will only add information on debts exceeding $10,000 where the debtor is actively avoiding repayment and there is strong documentation proving the debt. Unresolved disputes where the debtor is in contact with the creditor will not be published. For more details, check out the Legal page on the site.

Thanks for helping keep our poker community scam-free. If you have any questions or need to discuss anything with the site admins, feel free to contact them at support@pokerscammerslist.com.

Cheers

Name one

Seems like they may be opening themselves up to lawsuits. I tried starting a similar site and was strongly encouraged not to do so due to potential liability issues.

Yep.

Thay is why most casinos try to give out as little information as possible when someone is banned. Why open themselves to lawsuits? They have a right to ban people for almost any reason so leave it open ended. By giving specific details, they open themselves up to lawsuits vy potentially defaming someone.

I am all for the idea

casinos don't do it because they want degens to lose money at their casino. publicly proven scammers would have no case and the casino wouldn't bear liability as truth is a defense in defamation cases.

It is very hard to sue someone for defamation and if there is any evidence of them scamming then you're prob going to win the case. even if they didn't scam and you called them scammers but they didn't experience any damages from the allegations, they you would win. For ethical reasons I would make sure you dont paint any innocent people as scammers

The fact that the only scammer is Smirnov feels like this is personal

How do we know this isnt just a people greenseer1 doesn't like list

Also sounds like he didn’t scam anyone at poker but rather had a business disagreement with his business partner. Really seems like this may just be a grudge website.

Even if a casino has an open and shut case against a scammer, they are still not going to open themselves up to anything they don't have to.

For one, as any good lawyer will tell you, there is no such thing as a slam dunk case. Juries do strange things. Trials take odd turns. Things happen. No one risks a trip through the legal system if they don't have to.

For two, from a casino perspective, any lawsuit is expensive. They will be billed by very expensive lawyers for anything that happens in the lawsuit.

For three, no casino wants to be in the news that they are being sued for defamation by one of their customers. Even if they are in the right, it never looks good for them. For a casino it is always David versus Goliath. They are going to look like a bully in any news story about them getting sued.

It is far better to just ban someone and go silent on the why then to blast it out. No upside and lots of downside.

Legal minefield.

Just have someone run it who's permanently in a 3rd world country

Not only this, but Smirnov's disagreement is with the "prominent poker backing group" POCARR. If you don't know that that is, perhaps this thread – created and maintained by its manager – can explain it better: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/222/o...
