I think you underestimate whales' thought process. Playing against known elite players is way different than playing with some random nobody "ambassador"
yes the only reason to play GG is because they allow fish from china russia etc that arent welcome on most other sites.

See you joke, but this is literally why GG have done this. regs dont battle each other, and you're constantly looking for easy opponents. But then people complain when its private games and / or 7bb/100

Everything about this situation just screams that this has been orchestrated by Misha and Elky (and other GG insiders), and as part of the deal they are 99% certainly mandated to sell large percentages of themselves in the games to other GG insiders.

This makes me think that there is something else at play behind this change. When the boycott happened they actually went back and reverted the changes which showed that they cared about HS games, just to change their opinion only a year and a half later and completely kill the games, makes no sense to me. Another weird thing is where are all the VIPs that used to play before the change, why are they not playing? Right now I am only seeing house regs and some new VIPs playing what looks like a play money games without the $ sign.

Yeah there's something fishy about this. Although it could be a lot of the previous VIP fish don't like the new changes either and decided to stop playing there

Do you think GG liked being forced by a boycott of HS regs to change their policies? Part of what they are doing is to adopt a format where the HS regs lose that blackmail ability. The HS regs hurt GG's bottom line; time to repay the favor.

Then why are players like Misha allowed in the pool? Hes clearly a shark in this particular pool and doesnt help the goal of achieving ~0 win rates for all players.
Getting ~0 winrate for everyone is completely unrealistic as there will always be massive differences between individual players of all skill levels. Even if you took 6 players who everyone see as whales and put them on the same table, the result would be that one of the whales would be the shark in that specific pond. Like imagine a table of Gus Hansen, Guy Laliberte, Santosh, Tesla, Tan Xuan, Eric Persson. All of these players have been considered whales in various games, but put them together on one table and Im pretty sure one or more of of them will emerge as a shark with large win rate..
So why are they even doing this? The only way for it to make sense is that its a conscious decision where Misha and Elky (and Fedor) have been picked to have exclusive access to high win rate games.

Yea I fully agree. Its basically a scam. If you play on GG you are not playing against a real pool of players. You are playing against selected GG employees chosen by GG to ensure that not only are you paying rake, but the majority of your losses go to the site as well. Without being told that this is the case. And if you are better than the GG employees you are not allowed to play at all, so you will lose or get banned from the games.

It would make sense as to why they remove the $ sign but I think this is too sketchy even for GG to do. The operators can't have pieces of certain players.
They have basically killed off the games at high stakes. There won't be any utopia where Elky and co. are playing significant volume against recs. I find it hard to believe GG didn't know this would happen and suspect there must have been some other motivation at play.
