What's up with vloggers pushing WPTGold's free tournament and how much are they making for it

It seems that most of the vlogging community are pushing WPT Gold. IT's some new site that's a version of WPT. Anyone know what the vloggers are getting for this. It seems like some sort of scam. I'm sure there's a story behind it, so I figured two plus two would know.

they are getting money man ,

wpt is trying the sweepstakes system and influencers are getting paid on front end and back end of you use referral code ..

free money for them to sign up new players..

I hate that system but if eventually they overtake wsop.com I would be ok with that

brother man its the basis for affiliate marketing. Players sign up whether its a poker site, buying a pair of pants, joining a gym etc etc and the way the customer gets to the site is built into their customer acquisition costs.

So for affiliates the purpose is to drive traffic places that you have products/deals with. So yes WPT is indeed putting out a huge promo using these influencers, however it will come back and pay off big time for the guys like Brad who have signed on thousands of ppl. What this means for Brad is once the ppl start playing on the site he will receive a small portion of their rake generated every month. It can add up quick even if the players arent very active.

Affiliate marketing has been around for awhile, at first it was just coupon codes where each code is assigned to a rep or group of reps and this way corporate could track which campaigns are effective or not. Now with digital marketing its all down to a science practically and it allows for people to work for themselves and be digital marketers/affiliates as all you need to do is drive traffic to sites that interest you,

Source: been doing it for yrs

It's genius if you really think about it:

The employees/ambassadors/friends are running a giveaway to "promote" their new company. 5 million dollar giveaway, for 2000 people

But the ambassadors think about it, and tell themselves, if we're doing all the marketing, why aren't we getting paid?

They come up with the scummy plan to guarantee themselves a seat in the giveaway, and then make the other 1900 seats harder and harder to get. While also possibly/probably gifting their friends seats

Not only do they make the seats harder to get by offering 3 seats for an initial signup code, then offering 90 seats a week later if you use a different code, basically screwing the initial ones who signed up...

They're also allowing people in New York and Canada to play freeroll tournaments online, that give them a seat to a tournament that's located in Las Vegas...a week before the event is supposed to happen.

Knowing that if they win, many won't show up since they'll have to pay $XXX in flights, and $XXXX in Vegas weekend room rates to get to Vegas, for a 3-day-weekend-freeroll-turbo-tourney paying 25% of entrants

Not only that, the freerolls that initially allowed 2000 entrants, were increased to 5000. And to make it even harder, they allow people and pros who have already won a seat, to play the online satellites and make sure even less people win seats

Less passport winners showing up, increases the equity of the guaranteed seats, and betters the chances of the ambassadors making more and more money

The ambassadors and all winners of the seats, want the least amount of people possible showing up, to increase their chances of winning

Did I miss anything?

Also, 2 questions to ask:

1. Why aren't dealers guaranteed a seat? Them doing a good job is a big reason why we view the Wynn and WPT the way we do. Matt Berkey sitting on a couch doing a podcast, which I'm actually a big fan of. Love the show Berky... But him getting a guaranteed seat, doesn't seem fair to the employees who have put in numerous 8-12 hour days dealing to, and with poker players. For years. Why give ambassadors a seat but not dealers?

2. If the ambassadors of the WPT truly are "ambassadors of the game of poker", and want the game to grow, would they be willing to give up their seat, to some of us "Bitching-Belittled-Regs"?

Or would they become a Bitching-Belittled-Reg like the rest of us, as soon as you take it away from them?

maybe if we had played 85% of our hands dealt to us and cackled loudly like obnoxious drunks we would have gotten a seat...

Why would they give up their seat especially to entitled regs that won't do anything to grow the game? Makes no sense.

This site is giving away 5m worth of seats and we still have people crying about not getting one bc they think they deserve one. It's pathetic.

I have noticed these vloggers too posting about this WPT gold tournys. Even lower level vloggers are doing it now. They are really trying to brand their WPT tournys by social media. I guess its working because thats all I see and talking about it now lol

Because giving money to yourself in the form of a giveaway, while you are already going to be playing poker and getting paid for it regardless, is going to grow your own bank account more than the game.

And it makes no sense to people who have little sense. Saying pros do nothing to grow the game, even though they are the ones who are actually playing it the majority of the time and paying the rake, shows that you probably got gifted a golden passport. Congrats. I hope you were the one that won your passport by giving relationship advice about sex toys being actually helpful in your relationship, and not hurtful. Very solid advice to keep a relationship.

Lastly, the site is giving away 5m worth seats, as long as they are allowed to win. If the ambassadors seats were taken away from them, I would bet money they'd be "pathetically" crying about how they deserve one.

And if the ambassadors aren't allowed to pull from the drum at the Wynn for the McLaren, why are they allowed to take place in the freeroll?

You sound so mad that you didnt get a seat.

I didnt get one either......but idc at all, or feel entitled to it in anyway.

Its like basic marketing, they want their ambassadors who generate views to play and do well in the tourney.

The only thing Im sure about from reading this thread is that PokerSalesman is a misreg.

naa bro if HE was in that tournament things would be different.

This was more about looking out for the consumer, and not the company and it's employees. All ambassadors will be playing more poker, regardless if they play the freeroll

No sense in discussing more. I'll go back to not using this site like everyone else has

Cheers and I'll let you guys get back to bitching about people bitching!

Bitching about people bitching = Bitching

considering your name includes salesman in the title, you have woefully little understanding of the very common practice of affiliate marketing
