Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn't eat it....
o well atleast the girl grinded him on the rails of a club, almost got kicked out for grinding? Kappa
It's a really tough tournament. That is partly why only 89 entries. Many realized they were $EV- or couldn't sell action at even. Definitely a great accomplishment.
That is HU went so long showed they were fairly evenly matched. I thought Yockey in some ways out played DN. Yockey took advantage of DN's passive style, which has always been nonstandard.
and in the same breath daniel let him do that in spots to set massive value traps which is how yockey got crippled a couple times
the best part of this is pokergo gatekeeping a win that is monumental potentially to further growth of poker
Early in tuning in to the PokerGO coverage, I told my wife "if I were Daniel and I won this thing, I'd cry".
He cried. (Boy, in his bracelet photo he looks like he'd somehow compressed hours of crying into a few minutes. Clearly, I don't blame him.)
Anybody who has watched the vlog for as long as I have knows that this isn't about the money for him; it's about legacy. Is all that ego-driven motivation at least partly unhealthy and -EV? Probably.
But he loves poker and he loves the World Series. And if you aren't at least a little bit romantic about the WSOP, you're probably significantly older or younger than me and that signature slide guitar sting (presented by Milwaukee's Best Light) means nothing to you. (Pity.)
And this isn't just any bracelet. This is the PPC. You have to beat a small field of crushers at nine games. (And he also came 16th/3,485 in a NLH freezeout this summer. Dude can navigate a tournament.)
And for all of my public and private grousing about his PLO overconfidence, he goes and binks the PPC on a PLO hand. Gotta respect the spite.
Far more sincerely: congratulations, Daniel (who will probably never read this, but whatever).
I'd be lying if I said you weren't inspiring to me, given your tenacity and passion for the game. There's little point in me going into longwinded detail here, but it suffices to say that I got pretty beaten down by poker (despite piles and piles of EV bb), to the point that I basically gave up playing for a few years.
So seeing Daniel keep grinding the Series (despite all of the frustrations) and then getting rewarded for it by shipping the PPC of all things... it's honestly storybook, heartwarming stuff. Good for you, Daniel. Your dedication speaks for itself and I'm glad the results finally came in perhaps the most meaningful way possible. I'm really happy for you, and it was so satisfying to see how emotional this was for you. Like I said, if I were you, I would have cried too.
I'm not going to sit here with stars in my eyes and say "and now I believe I can bink the PPC too!" But I'll sit here and tell you that I might be more of a believer in being tenacious about poker and not giving up on it, no matter how modest or grand one's goals are.
I'm not going to afford a $50k PPC bullet anytime soon, but maybe I can be comfortably rolled for PLO50 again within the next year, if I play my best and run okay. (And then who knows.)
But this isn't about me! Again, congrats to DNegs. The guy isn't perfect but he's an icon who is more respectable than many in this godforsaken pastime. Thrilled for the guy.
Haters in shambles
Early in tuning in to the PokerGO coverage, I told my wife "if I were Daniel and I won this thing, I'd cry".
I was on the rail, the atmosphere was great. Not only this but the rowdy rail for the millionaire maker. On the way in I saw Mori Eskandani and was chatting to him for a bit. He was saying how much this would mean to Daniel and I said to him that Daniel will probably cry if he does it. He did it and he did. Clearly meant so very much to him, was awesome being there to see it.
Came here to see if there was any activity as of late.
But seriously, nice win. And I take back everything I said above about how Daniel should probably stick to the low buy-in events.
Over/under for vlog length tomorrow? I think 1 hour+ maybe, depending on how much PokerGo footage he’s allowed to splice in.

You ok?
Loosey Goosey 2: Coming to a YouTube near you.
Definitely will be his most viewed Vlog of all time

this was a mixed game tournament mostly..if anything him avoiding NLHE super high rollers is probably going to be +EV
Wow, an 89 person "tournament" yawn
The one bad part is that the vlog two days from now is going to really suck, if there even is one.
Cool to see him win this.
The man is nitpicked to death because he has made himself a public figure, but you can't question his passion for the game.
He wanted another bracelet real bad, and especially this one.
as much as I dislike Dnegs, I feel like he deserved this one, good for him
Can't be bothered figuring out whether people are sincere or trolling when they're discounting this win. The PPC? That's awesome. A great way to end his terrible streak of not winning any bracelets. GG.
He grates me more often than not.
But I too was happy he won. Was good to see the real side of him being emotional, and it clearly meant a lot.
You can't knock on someone for that. So well done him.
He was in the 250k for 2 bullets last week, among bricking most other events this year. He is likely near a million in buyins already.
Enjoyed watching nearly all the pokergo coverage of this event. Props to Daniel on the win, deck was certainly favorable to him at the final table, but he did play well also.
Bravo Daniel
some red faces in this thread today 😃
Only time Daniel wins in the last ten years is when he wears Phil Ivey's sunglasses.
Coincidence or magic dust from Ivey's sunglasses?
It has been nothing but winning for the haters the last 20 years. Maybe we can give him a one W. Good for you, Daniel.
The greatest losing streak in the history is over. I don’t know why to follow this guy anymore but maybe he will come up with a new thing.
There is still:
10k 2-7
25k PLO
10k SCS
10k Mystery Bounty
50k PLO
10K Main
10k 8 game
50k Horse
10k Limit
25k Horse
That's another 210k if only 1 bullet which we know he is never going to only have 1 in.
Add on some other smaller buy ins he could still probably finish down this series.
