WSOP results that are heavily influenced by his not cashing in the several 250k and 1 million buy in events that are including in the 2015- sample that is being referenced?

To be clear, I make no inferences nor implications about Negreanu's abilities in posting those numbers. I just figured providing the chart of his year-by-year profits – plus the sum total of those years – was more useful than posting a URL to a YouTube video that contains a chart of his year-by-year profits.

After all, I'm still scarred by some of the people in the Robbi Jade Lew thread posting a link to some five-hour video, then saying, "See? Smoking gun right there!"

I'll save some people the work:

2013 - $1,963,500
2014 - $7,100,164
2015 - $952,920
2016 - ($1,246,693)
2017 - ($86,140)
2018 - $1,412,053
2019 - $831,891
2021 - $584,023
2022 - $1,625,545
2023 - ($2,228,174)

Total 2013-23: $10,909,089

Does this include the beating Doug Polk gave him ( still amazed Polk was able to hustle him so bad) and all the side bets he surely lost betting on himself?

I agree ge may be $ev- in high rollers except mixed games. It would probably make sense to cut them out, except that would interfer with gg marketing him as a big star. However, you need to be a really good player to only be a little ev- in high rollers.

He wasn't hustled into it, he's said many times that he knew he was a dog and wanted to use it as a learning experience.

Up over $10 million but, oh no, down in WSOP events. What a loser.

Lol exactly.

Imagine caring about a WSOP event as if it holds any sort of value.

This is the extent of telling someone you won a wsop event "nice!"

I'd happily have 10 million in profit and never win a bracelet ever.

by Bounty Bob k

He was straight hustled.
Polk even pretended to be all buddy buddy with him after the fleecing was complete. It was impressive all around from Polk.

Dnegs at worst thought he was a small dog when he was a massive dog.

Of course after he got absolutely destroyed he tried to spin it as he wanted the learning experience blah blah.

Yea he wanted to give someone he couldn't stand a million dollars for the learning experience lmao.

Correct but it cuts both ways. Losing overall at wsop for many years but winning a bracelet in that process isn't the amazing accomplishment he tries to spin it as.

What would actually be shocking as poker gets harder and harder and he makes more and more in endorsements is if he was winning in tough fields. The hunger to get that much better just won't be there for him and understandably so.

Wins money - “Go out and win a bracelet why don’t ya!”

Wins Poker Players Championship- “Go out and win some $$$ why don’t ya!”

^ Now this is kinda funny.

But seriously folks, win a wsop bracelet while winning money might be nice.

When Daniel won the $50k PPC event for $1,178,703 to erase -$920,597 in losses and go up +$258,106, I thought there's no way this guy can finish in the red, but Daniel kicked into overdrive and finished down for the wsop series $171,063.

$10 million. No wonder you're so sour.

by RosaParks1 k

This feels impossible. He's so bad and he plays so many events, how is he averaging a million dollars profit a year?

He's clearly one of the biggest sunrunners of all time. His disbelief whenever he loses 2 58/42all ins in a row is proof enough that he has had insane luck his entire career. He's that one outlier that performs massively above average when you run a tournament variance calculator.

What are the WSOP numbers if you remove the WSOP rich man super high roller mini tournaments?

You know those shitty movies where a macho loudmouth gets punched in the face, and his response to clumsily save face is "iT wAs mY GenIuS pLaN to gEt bEaT uP"?

You apparently take that at face value.

As much heat as Polk gets, (and probably justifiably so), he was the only person in the world who was actual honestly about not only daniel's ability, but his character.

There's probably truth in what each of you is saying. When it went down, I figured Daniel was employing the classic advice about dealing with a bully: throw one good punch, and he won't pick on you anymore.

The WSOP numbers are a whole different story.

Here are some of Daniel's WSOP win/loss numbers:

2024: -$171,063
2023: -$1,039,157
2022: -$1,131,028
2021: +$399,025
2020: online ???
2019: +$1,077,492
2018: -1,393,897
2017 ???
2016 ???
2015 ???

I don't like Polk much as a person but he is super sharp.

i never met polk in person and only had interactions with him here

but from everything i've heard about him, he has an incredible work ethic

this is all 2nd or 3rd hand so could be totally wrong, but i've been told that he basically built excel sheets pre-solver days to try to figure out the optimal strategy to play and that gave him a huge edge over the field, that's also why he specialized in heads up play, because it was a much simpler decision tree and more approachable to try to find optimal frequencies using tools like excel

you need more than just intelligence to pioneer a field like that, it also takes an insanely good work ethic

much like how there's a story that's been circulated around here a bunch about a bunch of euros at a grind house throwing a party and someone attended it and said linus lived in the house but didn't emerge once to party because he instead spent that time studying and running sims - it's those things which separate the wheat from the chaff at the highest levels

Lol, what? Negreanu has been the bully for more than a decade now.

How you got that completely backwards is anyone's guess.

When I was in 1st grade some kid in my class was bullying some kids including me. I told my dad and he told me next time he does it punch him in the face and after that he won't bother you anymore. That's what I did and a few months later we were actually friends .

My dad didn't tell me you're getting bullied so give him a bunch of your toys.

Dnegs gave his bully 1m and got publicly destroyed in the process.

That's not how you handle a bully.

I don't see why dn accepted polk's terms, even the preflop charts. Why not counterrl that they play half nlhe and half 9 game or sometilhing like that?
