I just watched Ryan Depaulos latest vlog and he said how he's still backed by Danny boy after a horrible WSOP.. but i just dont understand why lol? Is DN just backing people with vlogs to try and get their viewers, i mean there has to be some other reason other than poker.
One thing I have heard multiple people saying that Daniel has always been helping out his friends so I guess some of the backing is -EV for him but he wants to help his friends.
DNegs has been running so well for his career that he believes that anyone with better poker understanding than himself has to be +++++++++++++EV at poker.

There is no way they would ever hit that guarantee without (a ton of) online players. So yea you are right, but its also unlikely that they thought "oh ****, we wont reach the guarantee, better make some way for people to play it online!" and more likely this was always the plan when they announced the huge guarantee.

Preflop is where the mistake is, limp calling a disconnected "smooth" hand vs an aggressive chip leader with that chip distribution would cost DN at least mid 4 figures in equity before the flop is even seen. If Dylan is going to iso him like 80% of the time even limping that hand in might immediately cost him like $1K. Tournaments are not cash games and cEV is not $EV, especially not at a PKO bounty FT when there are 2 short stacks that you cover.
There are frequently spots in PLO/NLO tournaments where you think to yourself "this is ****ing stupid" and the payout structure forces you to deviate from how you would in a cash game, this is one of those spots.

Hand absolutely doesnt play itself postflop. He has 0 nut outs, only the 4 is a really good card, and he is in a horrible ICM spot. Most of his seemingly good turns are just trouble cards where if lots of money goes in hes in a **** spot. l/call pre is most likely bad, at best ok, only if you have a read that BB is weak in some way. (Id personally fold for sure with these stack distribtutions) but if you go for that line you need to be way more selective what hands you continue OOP in such a spot.
People's ICM awareness in PLO tourneys in general is absolutely atrocious. I played a pretty big final table live recently and I laddered from 9th to 3rd just by mainly people making horrible ICM punts while I played good solid ranges and was aware of my ICM situation. People are awful at PLO tourneys .. the level in online 10 dollar tourneys is about the same as 1k live with people making the same punts because they have that cash game PLO mentality of "once im in the pot if I flop something it plays itself" and they turn off their brain and autopilot in a lot of spots. With the ICM premium a lot of spots that "play themselves" are clear folds.
