It was quite a decisive moment. Imagine having that sort of run good in big tourneys. In 15 years of playing I can honestly say that Ive never won a 1 outer in a serious tournament (but lost 3 times). Must be nice. DNegs probably still under the impression that he has bad luck, lol.

i think PLO MTTs are his worst format, mostly due to him over valuing anything that is top 2 pair + coincided with his ability to afford as many rebuys as possible...which is understandably a good strategy to play all in or fold in an effort to build a big stack and then proceed to play his famous "low-ball" strategy to the final table.
Pretty sure anyone with his bankroll would do that though. I know i would.

It sounds like you may have played those tournaments with him. I just watched the videos, but he seemed very strong at PLO final tables, even if he doesn't play it well technically. He seems to have a profit in PLO tournaments over the last few years.
I thought at the WSOP, he would be better off playing more mixed game and non NLHE non PLO tournaments. At this point his edge is greater in those games.
never played with him but my favorite games are limit (2-7 triple draw and razz) and i always like to rail any mixed games when given the chance which is not often. Only time i can see this action is usually on his youtube WSOP coverage or WSOP events being streamed on PokerGOs youtube channel.
From what I've seen. He usually doesn't make mistakes (at least not many) in stud variants. I am always impressed when he goes over a hand actually. Good memory, solid fundamentals, and applies logical ranges for his opponents when thinking about an action.
But those types of games dont run that often so it's not really like he could just play those only...im sure in a alternative universe where Limit poker is dominant he's a top crusher lol

I would personally not try any fancy movies on him playing a game like stud, stud8, or LHE.
Hellmuth in particular but a lot of the high visibility players feasted 15-20 years ago and may still on n00bs trying fancy moves on them imo. I got busted in two different stud tournaments by TJ & Ferguson, thinking they were trying to steal the antes & my bring in. Just pathetic.
Guy I played with got busted by Chan at the ME TV table around 05-06. As he walked away he said “I thought you were bluffing”. Chan laughed after he was gone and said “They always think I’m bluffing.”
I once considered a fancy play against Mike Sexton in a Stud 8 tournament, didnÂ’t do it, wound up 7th Mike 13th (Hellmuth 9th 😀 ). Mike told me after the hand “you were really smart not raising there”.

Random thought, if we were compare poker personalities to sport personalities we find some similarities. I see Ivey kind of like the Kobe figure of poker, serious, focused, mysterious, no nonsense. Who is DN if we had to compare him to an athlete, doesn't have to be NBA but I can't seem to find one, other than Charles Barkley, from a personality standpoint, but his results are obv much better.
