Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn't eat it....
o well atleast the girl grinded him on the rails of a club, almost got kicked out for grinding? Kappa
Those pgt events are tough small field. Plus the win this year in the slow structure WSOP $50K 9-game. So he has some results this year.
I agree that without the GG contract for vlogs, etc. he might not play the $100K+ tournaments.
Here is a limpin is pimpin video from a year ago when he luckboxed a win in a 24 player SNG with a $300K buyin.
I've never seen a person go into the broken English Asian speaking thing as quickly as Daniel.
Oh you're Asian?
No, me got Ace ace. You go KK, no no no you no win. Me have flush
I have watched the first 9 parts of his series on his win of a $300K entry a year ago. I watched the hands, but mostly skipped over his commentary.
He really seemed to have been mostly open limping. He limped TT and AQo.
People here are saying things that just aren't true. This just year he won the PPC mixed game and a $300K entry and is 2nd on the PGT leaderboard.
He may be down overall with all the huge buyin tournaments. He probably sells action in those like everyone else does, in addition to having the GG money.
He doesn't even play that much. Without the GG money, he might be grinding $2K to $25K tournaments more, but he can definitely make good money playing poker.
He clearly isn't one of the top 10 NLHE tournament players like 17 years ago. I watched his 18 part series on a $300K entry fee win, mostly just watching the hand and skipping over the analysis. I think it provides value for GG. He has personality and explains the hands in an understandable way, discussing solver-based concepts, but not overdoing it. His audience wants to see play from a $300K win, and doesn't care if he is on of the best players in it.
He also has an interesting style of play. It isn't interesting to watch someone try to play like a computer. The limping works against a table of GTO players, because they solvers look at it much. It suits his small ball style creates more postflop play. A high percentage of hands in those tournaments are raise and take it or reraise and take it.
Claiming he is outclassed in $5 and 10Ks is just demonstrably false. How is he 2nd on the PGT leaderboard? Pretty clear he is significantly $EV+ in tough $10Ks.
i am trying to figure out if deuce is trolling or not. earlier i was leaning towards not but it is getting harder
People like to forget Daniel was playing and winning in the biggest games for years. He has $54,278,685 in tourney winnings on hendon mob for 7th biggest winner of all time. 7 wsop bracelets with one coming this year and people still like try to call him a fish.
Amounts in winnings don't mean much, because they don't subtract buyins. However, I am sure DN has made a lot long term.
Totally ridiculous to call him a fish. He isn't a really top tournament player like he was, but he is a very good tournament player.
He has the assets and sponsorship money to play super high rollers, which it isn't clear he is EV+ in now, and they make for good videos. Without the sponsorship and assets, he would probably play stakes he could beat more easily.
He has value to GG, among other things, in his personality and ability to discuss play in understandable terms.

this should be easily verifiable. he publishes his end-of-year on his X-account and has done so for as long as i can remember.

He's down in tournaments over the last 7-8 years. Doubt he plays much cash.
He makes piles in endorsements which I'm sure makes it hard to stay motivated especially to put in enough work in high buy in events to not be a dog.
If he HAD to play for a living Im sure he could but he wouldn't be out there punting in high rollers and playing lower events without taking them seriously.
Basically any poker pro would be an idiot not to trade annual income with him though. He's won at life.

No he has 54 m in gross cashes. And yes for a while he was a top player.
Winning one bracelet in 15 years while playing tons of events isn't the accomplishment poker wise you think it is.
It is great for his marketing.
He didn't just win any bracelet. He won the PPC, which yes should be great for marketing.
He isn't a fish. If he was, he would be crushed in the $300Ks, etc. He just doesn't play that much and plays higher buyin than would make consistent profit, because he has the endorsement contracts. He isn't a top player any more. He would still be a pretty big winner if he had to play for a living.
He is a way better player than Jonathan Little, who parlayed 2 WPT wins in one year into a business of producing videos, etc. for fish.
Let's get Dongwuk Moon and DNegs on the feature table today
It was quite a decisive moment. Imagine having that sort of run good in big tourneys. In 15 years of playing I can honestly say that Ive never won a 1 outer in a serious tournament (but lost 3 times). Must be nice. DNegs probably still under the impression that he has bad luck, lol.
do you have something to add to the thread beyond your explanation of how great you are and how bad everyone else is
LMAO
That super main event is unlimited reentries. He maybe fired a zillion bullets.
Pretty clear he is playing for big wins, bracelets, leaderboards, etc. for his ego and for marketing.
To say he can't beat 5 and 10Ks is ridiculous though. He is 2nd on the PGT leaderboard and those are all 5, 10, and 25Ks, mostly with tough small fields, less than 100 entries.
DNegs bustout in the Super Main. For someone who’s played as long as him, he sure can act like the shittiest of losers, flinging his chips across the table, crying like a bitch for losing a flip lol.
2nd Boom coming?
