Poker In Ontario

Anyone have any insight into what this will mean for Ontario players in terms of the unregulated sites like Bodog, BOL, WPN, etc?

Also confirmation that Ontario players will no longer be able to access sites like Pokerstars, Pokerparty, GG/Natural8, etc?

I don't support the rake increase at all, but that's a horrible misrepresentation. I knew immediately that it was after a maintenance. Cmon man.

FWIW, if I wanted to see GG's traffic at that time, I would have done the exact same thing.

It's not a big deal. He didn't do it on purpose. Move on.

Reporting GG to AGCO. it seems there are many players accessing the Ontario pool illegally from outside of ON.
Has anyone done this in the past / does anyone have evidence to help a court case against GG?

Ya what can we do about it tho. gg is not letting them they are just tricking the system and they dont have much incentive to find them. They need to start doing more security checks at least for higher volume players but I don't think people will like that

What leads you to believe this is the case.

GG would most likely either be told to clean up or face substantial fines for being to laxed on it (I used to work for partypoker fwiw). This would make the playing environment better for us.

Many players in chat have told me they believe this to be true.
I see many HS regs that never play on any other ON site which suggests this is true too.
However many regs do also accuse me of not being from ON.
Hoping some of the players in this thread have more evidence.

We know it exists but how do you get evidence? stalk people? you don't, you need whistleblowers or more security. but ya its definitely happening to some degree Ontario is a small place winning regs just don't appear out of thin air everyone knows everyone by like 1 degree of separation so we notice when randoms start playing the highest stake games and winning . They either move to ontario or vpn into ontario. its hard to tell who's doing what since the people who move here never advertise but alot of the players playing are definitely not from Ontario originally and alot of them only play on the site known to have the weakest security

There was very little released about the first two days. Its gonna be awhile anything you hear will be speculation. 5 hopefully unbiased people get to decide. At best we might get to hear the arguments

Anybody have an inside scoop on why Pokerstars Ontario has such shitty tournament schedules when they run a special series? They just finished the Fall Fest and didn't run a single tourney starting before 6pm, even on Sundays. Now they're advertising the 25 days of whatever with a new tournament announced every day...starting at 7:30pm.

I get why it might not be worth it to run special tournaments during weekdays, but why not on the weekends? I'm a middle-aged guy who gets up at 6:30 am for work, the last thing I want to do is be stuck in a tournament until 3am Monday morning. Would it kill them to start some tournaments earlier in the day? I just don't get it.

Because they want tired customers chasing their next payout they would of had if their KK wasn’t cracked on the roulette tables.

"2024 was a relatively quiet year for the Ontario online poker market. The Canadian province marked its third year of regulated online poker operations, having transitioned from the global dot-com player pool to a regulated framework in April 2022. Before regulation, Ontario operated in the grey market as part of the international pool.

There was no notable movement in the market during the year—no new operators entered, nor did any exit; the same six operators continued to serve Ontario’s segregated player pool. The province also remained segregated from the rest of Canada, with no other provinces joining its regulatory framework. Discussions about Ontario rejoining the international player pool gained traction, with multiple court hearings taking place and a decision from the court is expected in early 2025.

Ontario remains the largest segregated online poker market in North America by revenue. In the last reported quarter (July to September), online poker generated CAD $18 million, approximately $12.5 million USD, outpacing US states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

As it stands today, GGPoker Ontario leads the province, commanding 57% of the market with over 350 concurrent cash game seats. PokerStars follows as the second-largest operator, averaging 160 seats. Further down, the BetMGM Ontario network averages 70 seats, while 888poker Ontario lags significantly with just 20 seats.

Altogether, the Ontario online poker market supports over 600 concurrent cash game seats, nearly matching the combined cash game traffic of New Jersey and Michigan."

so pretty much nothing has changed. I don't even think stars lost market shares surprisingly. gg has bigger numbers but more multitablers . Still Crushing America tho
