Mike Matusow Containment Thread
Mike has stolen from his family - source -
Scott Matusow and Mike on occasion
Mike is known to have "borrowed" from Daniel
Of course, I was just being a little snarky . God i miss stud, used to be what we all played growing up. Then after Moneymaker, only holdem. Id love to find a low limits stud tournament somewhere in the 200-400 range (probably have about 15 people sign up but I don't care). I don't have confidence enough to pay 1500 to enter into a wsop as a obvious dog to find out if im as good as I recall.
I think matasow bluffing on 5th and 6th is fine and shutting down on 7th. But obviously there's more to the hand than a pokernews briefing
Just saw the Mike documentary. I got the impression that his mom kind of hates him. She said a bunch of times that he will never make it in the WSOP hall of fame. She is probably right, but what does she even know about pokerI felt pretty bad for Mike with his back issues. I was wondering why he was puttering around on that scooter. I don't know enough about his poker game
Well they make it pretty clear (both his brother and his mom) that he's taken advantage of them many times over the year to stay in action, and when he's on the upswing, he never reaches out to make it right. His family interactions are actually the part where he comes across most unlikeable.
How come the WSOP never lets Matusow win a pot?
Also: How come the WSOP never deals Mike an Ace.
According to HendonMob the last time he won a live MTT was 2013 lol
Late to the party but wonder who in the hell put him in the PPC. I cant imagine a tournament he's a bigger dog in then that. Also the same crying story of never getting a hand and winning 2 pots in 8 hours year after year. I started following poker after Moneymaker and 5 years ago I was still delusional enough to say put him in the HOF but no one could justify it now.

Daddy Helmuth.
He's probably a bigger dog in big NL events.

well, you can't justify about a quarter of people IN the poker hall of fame right now either. He missed the time period where all his contemporaries were getting in and he's kinda been surpassed.

well, you
Ill be the first to admit he should of got in instead of Todd Brunson which was the most politicking goat roping selection there was. Also its no doubt these days Matusow isnt even in the top 2000 tournament players today. (Which if he had 2 more bracelets that wouldn't matter. Willie Mays wasnt a top 500 player at the end of his career either.)

Willie Mays wasn't washed up until long past the age most players were washed up.
He was great for 20 years and had a great year at 40. And yea he was awful at 42 in his last season.
MM has been washed up for 15 years and is now just a cry baby delusional nit who thinks he's running bad.
Tons of hall of fame athletes suck for a year or two at the end of their careers. Great poker players aren't washed up at 40. Max Scherzer is a lock first ballot HOFer despite being awful now and MM can win another bracelet (which by luck and sheer volume should happen eventually) and he still won't get in.
As usual a poker player to athlete analogy is terrible.
Mike is the type of guy that will get inducted posthumously into the hall. Ive watched a couple of his blogs lately and when he tries talking to HOF guys like erik siedel, michael mizrachi or negreanu they all kinda try to get him to stop bugging them ASAP. I cant imagine theyd want to have to deal with him being a part of the hall of fame.
When he passes, they will induct him as a nice gesture.
