Serious problem of tournament has occurred in Japan
In Japan, one serious problem has occured that prize for poker tournament hasn't payed for players for 1 month after the tournament.
The amount of prize which hasn't been payed is over $130,000.
And another problem is that WPT Japan is involved to the tournament.
What happened is introduced in this article, please check it with translation.

Not a great start for Japan’s scene. WPT always seem to be caught up in dodgy hijinks.
I wonder what they are investigating.
I was under the impression poker was illegal in Japan, and that even the tournaments that had buy-ins were just for fun and couldn’t be for actual money.
Terrible situation either way

I'm pretty sure all forms of gambling are illegal in Japan.
Pachinko parlours get around this by allowing you to trade your credits for prizes, then there will be someone near by who will buy the prizes for cash.
It seems this poker tournament operated on a similar model:
'It was explained that half of the prize would be transferred in the form of virtual currency from an app called Meteorn Run, and the virtual currency was transferred around March 21st.'
