Bomb pot crazy
My local casino just started a double board 10$ bomb pots at every dealer change and when almost all players agreed to do it in all their games. Everybody does it and they offer no games that doesn't do it. I've even been asked to get up from my seat so the table can do it! What should I do? Do I have to leEen how to do it?

Why cant you just sit out if you don't want to do it?
Iβve never played anywhere that didnβt just let you sit out if you didnβt want to play the bomb pot and then be back in when no limit starts again.
Sometimes rake is taken from the bomb pot if you pay with time at bigger stakes. Where I play the 5/10/20 PLO they take $8 a half hour so we play a $50 bomb pot per player every dealer change and they take the $ from there. If a person doesnβt want to play the bomb pot they can just pay the $8 which covers the rake for the next 30.
On raked games a person can sit out and pay nothing at any game Iβve seen that takes rake out of each pot.
Obv in a raked game you can sit out. Just like you can sit out any non bomb pot if you want.
Time rake games you may have to pay the time if time is normally taken from bomb pot.
Personally I am not a fan of bomb pots. Generally, I believe usually I am +ev in them but they are def higher variance. Usually high risk high reward because pots are bloated and thus bets, raises larger. Depending on multiple factors including table dynamics, how I feel, specific type of bomb pot, I often just sit out.
Bomb pots are great for action. The fun players love them. The nits hate them. Win/win!
My advice is to learn how to play them, and print.
(Spoiler warning: this forum is not the place for strategy questions.)
I was gonna say, is there much of a downside to playing them? The view from my cheap seat tells me bomb pots should separate the good players from the bad even more than usual. That is, if you're a skilled player, a) your opponents' ranges have more weak holdings than normal, and b) your opponents are more likely to shovel money into a beaten hand than you are.
Admittedly, this is pure spit-balling... I've never actually played in one.
Sounds like the Borgata.
You don't have to learn how to do it.
If you don't you'll miss out on some value.
If you do, you may find some giant pots.
When I saw bomb pots in Vegas, I think it was only when unanimous.
The table decided to do one every orbit+1.
Sometimes a player announced they were going to 'get up' to use the bathroom to allow unanimous bomb pots, just to not go, or sit back down after the hand started.
I play them 'sometimes'.
If I think there are some smart and aggressive players, I might sit out more often.
With more passive players, more likely to play.
When I sit out, I watch to learn.
