Pine trees. Lakes they call ponds. Landlocked salmon. Jelly donut baiting black bear hunters. Lobster. 20 percent coastal elites 80 percent northern rednecks.

Trump is your President though, sorry bud.

You are correct. Just like Franco would have been my dictator if I had been stuck in Spain in 1970. Both are still fascist buttclowns, whether you're stuck dealing with them, or not.

Franco was a tough ruler in the 40s but arguably he brought Spain to a miracle combination of stability and economic growth from the late 50s onwards.
Many people remember the Spain from the 60s and 70s fondly.
A lot has been done in the last 20 years to equate anything related to Franco's era to horror and despair but the history is a lot more nuanced than that.

On a different but related subject. There are some modern Spanish tv series that describe the 90s in cities like Madrid and Barcelona like homophobic hellholes. For those like myself lucky enough to have lived the experience I can tell you Madrid and Barcelona were absolute paradise for gay folks back then.

Of course young people were not there, perhaps they believe that modern media, it's just not true.

Crazy that people in 2026 are still stuck on COVID Vaccine's as being anything but beneficial to society.

You had top scientists around the world working at an unprecedented scale in modern medical history collaborating, sharing data, and publishing findings at a pace never seen before to come up with something and did so in a remarkable timeframe.

Then some idiots in the U.S. associate it with political identity and conspiracy views about their government.

Embarrassing.

fascist? lol.

fascist? lol.

The Administration refuses to follow court orders. It has stripped the Congress of its Constitutional powers to set spending and declare war. It has taken Constitutional power from the states to regulate elections. It uses the Department of Justice to punish political opponents. It sends federal troops to cities and states without their mandated local approvals. It threatens a free and unfettered press, in so doing tearing down the First Amendment. It murders citizens for peacefully protesting. So, yeah.
