I found that thread last night by complete accident; had to bump it to show n00bs tpt at its apex-apogee. Forgot about pointy elbows, what a glorious place this once was.
Who cares what she looks like? This is a creepy thread. If she wins, that's best for poker, period. There will be a lot of talk outside poker circles about this achievement. I don't know how anyone beats Michael, tho. He's the favorite by quite a bit.

Except there won't be. No one pays attention or is exposed to poker outside of fans. Even then, the impact of a women winning seems extremely exaggerated. There were some who felt that by just making the FT that it would do wonders for the game. I'm dubious at best as to it having any impact on the overall popularity of wsop and poker.

I too think the benefit is extremely exaggerated. Maybe back during the poker boom we would have also gotten women to start (10-20% more?) playing which would have helped a bit. Women are risk averse people. Its in their nature, and they like security. Slots are a different animal than poker where you have to mentally "fight" for your money.

Whether it’s right or not, it does matter what a woman player looks like.
For instance, the last woman standing in 2022, Litsou, actually made it further than a woman had made it since 2012 with the 18th place finish. But she barely got any attention because she was an unattractive 50 something year old.
This thread definitely doesnt stand the test of time. But it still makes me miss 2000s forum culture big time. To say this place is a barren desert compared to the golden days is an understatement.
