Back when commerce allowed cash there was a kid at the table who had about 20k broke up in 5k bunches with many rubber bands wrapped around them. The kid was complaining the stakes were too small and he was trying to get the cowardly "round of straddles" to which bobby constantly said no. The kid had lost about 16k when bobby leans over and quietly says to him, in a kind elderl
Bumping because this is the best poker story I can recall reading, and to recommend the interview Mason posted (which I assume was conducted by Dan), for Bobby’s thoughts on who the best player was & calling preflop re-raises alone.
RIP to an utter legend, ridiculous he’s not in the HOF, sucks he lost to the oddest duck in poker history though it kinda adds to his mystique.
