$300 live. Two similar spots.
Big field multi-flight event. Super soft field. Both spots are very similar with around 100/400 left on Day 1.
Blinds 1000-2500 (bba)
Hero stack 50k (20bbs)
H1 (Day 1a) - I had just doubled up two hands prior winning a flip in the bb. Next hand I open shove sb vs bb and take it down. Now on the button I’m dealt KQdd.
Utg+1 player limps off of 40k stack (15bbs).
CO limps covering with about 100k
Both players seemed typical limp happy loose passive bad live players.
Hero?
H2 (Day 1b) - For all intents it’s the same set up but I’m in CO. Utg limps covering, MP limps off 15bbs. I have 20bbs again and AKo.
I’m thinking H1 is a shove to pick up the dead money and increase my stack 20%. H2 is much stronger so can probably start thinking about raising ~3x and playing poker. This can also induce a shove behind which is a great result.
Thoughts?

I think both of these are shoves but I'm biased since I hate both these hands. 3x raise is just too clever. What will you do when a calling station calls and the flop comes 745? AA-JJ are clear opens where shoving loses value, but without a pair I prefer to shove since navigating post will be tricky.
This field sounds super weak, where did you play?
Yeah, I don't think any option is terrible but shoving is probably best in both cases. AKo is better for inducing but you also can't flop straight draws and flush draws like you can with KQs.

I think this is perfect feedback by LifeNitFL. First spot seems like KJs+ AT+ 55+ (maybe just open QQ+) second one I hear you, they may just all fold a fair amount of time and the AK feels "wasted" but you still increase your stack by over 20% which is paramount at this point, and just like LifeNit said, if we open/get called and the flop comes 7 hi, we're in a tricky spot. Don't overthink it, if you can increase ur stack by 20%+ in spots like this, just jam and take the easy money.
Yea I thought these were both pretty routine jams. I’m a little rusty and was doubting myself so posted for sanity.
Results: I jammed both spots.
H1: EP limper calls quick other player folds. I’m thinking ok nice trap and he rolls over A3hh . Board bricks out. NH buddy.
H2: Everyone folds. This one I kinda felt like I left value on the table but nah it’s fine.
Thanks for the replies.
lol he limp/called off A3s while you had him covered? Man, I love tournaments.
Ralphy, you never said where this was, though given the above I can understand if you don't want to give it away...

Probably was the Big Rock Candy Mountain Casino. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vTomEuu...
Now we just have to figure how to get there... 😀
