Widen or tighten showing ranges as Big Bounty shortstack?
Lets say you have a pretty big bounty on your head and have like 8-15 big blinds , should you widen or tighten your showing range compared to a freezeout?

Tighten, and change the shape. People will call wider to target your bounty, so hands like small pairs and medium suited-connectors become -ev shoves. Crappy Broadway combos become more valuable shoves because you'll get called by hands that you have dominated (e.g., KTo vs K3s).
Not sure I understand the logic above. If people will call wider to target your bounty, why would you want to tighten your shoving range?

This is correct.
(Overall in terms of a percentage of hands you'll shove, you don't need to tighten too much, but the hands you choose do need to change in the way described above.)

It´s correct icmwise. If it´s correct in reality I don´t know. But as in any other cases in the ICM-world we thrive from FE and the reason ICM dictates we can shove wide in many spots is because oppontents should call tight. If we think they´ll call us looser we have to tighten up.
Just one example from Holdem Resources: If opponents call correctly with 10 BB on a table with 7 players and 4 prices MP can shove 27% of his range. If BB is a maniac who calls with around 18% of his range instead of 9% as ICM dictates MP have to tighten up and and reduce his range to 20%
You simply can't get away with shoves that you would get away with in non-bounty tournaments. So you have to tighten because you don't have as much fold equity. As nath said it's probably more about changing the types of hands you shove than it is about tightening, but you do have to tighten.
This also means you can make an adjustment to shove with big hands at slightly larger stack sizes. If I have a big bounty on my head, I'll just open shove 18bb with QQ or AK for example and get called by K5s or whatever.
Yeah, somehow I always forget that the profit of shoving comes from getting folds, not from getting calls. Good to know for the PKOs I play.
And yeah Darth, I agree, it changes the right way to shove which is sometimes just to open shove with a good hand rather than get tricky. I think that's what I was referring to more than shoving wide: shoving a lot with hands you'd normally just open.
